    Why do you insist on repeating and spreading this mis-information. Was this your personal experience where 2 of your 4 bolts were a different length?

    It simply is not true and never has been. Yes, there are flanged bolts for pre- '01 1st gen 6 luggers which come with the ball joints and there are bolts with captured washers for the '01-'04 Tacomas that do not come with the ball joints, but in both situations, the bolts for these applications are the same length. Not 2 shorter and 2 longer.

    I see you posting in a lot of threads trying to be helpful. That is great as long as you aren't contributing wrong info. Be certain of what you recommend to those with less experience because wrong info is worse than no info.

    Here are the part numbers I use for my '02 6 lug 4x4 Tacoma.

    Passenger side (RH)
    $215 43330-39556 Suspension Ball Joint
    43330-39556

    Driver side (LH)
    $136 43340-39436 Ball Joint Assembly
    43340-39436

    The parts lookup tool I use is based on the vin# for my truck. It says the part you listed for the driver side BJ will not fit my truck.

    I would probably just spray some brake cleaner up there and stick one of those bristle brushes up inside it and turn it around a few times

    No, 1st gens. At least some years in the late 90's had them from the factory and the service replacement LBJ's had them in the hardware pack around 01-02ish for the "non shroud" joints.

    Thanks for clarifying the bolts lengths issue. I do not insist on spreading misinformation intentionally. I do not have personal experience with the different bolts. The info I share without experience comes from here on the forum as I read others experiences. There has obviously been misunderstanding on those experiences regarding these bolt lengths. And fortunately I think I only shared the misinformation of the 2 lengths of bolts in one ball joint 3 times, and that includes today. :D thanks again for clarifying this

    Toyota has a recall for Lower Ball Joints....
    I got mine replaced totally free on 2016 ....
    Just make a call to your dealer with your VIN # and ask ....
    you may get surprise as I did and get them free too ! .... :hattip:

    I can't remember for certain but I think that's only for 2001+ Tacomas or 2001 - 2002 or something like that. Was a bad batch of them one or 2 years that triggered the recall, only certain year Tacomas are affected. But definitely worth calling and finding out, my 04 was not part of the recall.

    I took your advice and bought some Bore Tech and nylon bore brushes. Rubbed/wiped the threads with the brushes and installed new bolts. I probably should have rinsed any loosened crud out with brake cleaner, but didn't think of it until I was done.
