I installed LED strips in my bed. did all the necessary wire routing to a switch. Its an LED Chinese switch that fits the pre-made spots next to my fog lights. After hooking it all up I wanted to test it. I put a 5amp fuse in the inline fuse holder that was also installed. When I test it, Nothing works. If I take it apart and test the switch and the LEDs with a battery. works fine. Is it the 5amp fuse thats the problem or what?

What are you using for the +? Add-a-fuse to fuse box? Direct line to battery?

Are you saying when you remove the inline fuse and connect direct to battery it works?

Did you connect to the correct terminals on the switch?

Try another fuse? Your current one crap or popped? (lol I'm blanking out on the term you use when a fuse goes out)

I'm using the truck battery for my +. I have a direct line to the battery with an inline fuse. The fuse is fine. Everything is hooked up correctly and all connections are tested and solid. If I connect the battery to the fuse led light work. I think it's the switch but if I test the system with a deer feeder battery the system works.

    Do you have a meter?
Test for power at the switch when you are connected through the 5 ampere fuse?

Yeah I need to test it there. I ran out of daylight and its cold. Im going to hook it all back up tomorrow and test points. Thinking of just taking out the fuse all together. Two LED lights, Im only pulling at most 3amps.

Don't remove the fuse and wire it unfused, unless you like smoke and fire.

Well, I found the problem. It turned out to be the fuse. The 5amp fuse was too high. I needed a 3amp fuse. Everything is good to go. i have working bed lights with a glowing LED switch. Thanks for the help!

It sounds like the fuse was just blown. A higher rated fuse would just take more of an overload to trip, but would still complete the circuit.
