Bed rack recommendedations

I have the BAMF low pro rack and its great. With the corner tied downs, RTT mounts, and the XL side mount plates it still under $600 and its heavy duty!

 

Here is this customer's issue (this is boiled down from several very long emails):

He ordered our Hi Rise Crossbars:

He has a Yakima Tent.

The Yakima tent has the ability to clamp to certain crossbars. Our crossbars are too large for their clamps, so our customers bolt directly to the bars. Not a big deal, our customers do this all the time.

This customer also has a soft folding cover (to date, he has not shared the brand of cover with us).

His cover has a couple latching mechanisms that appear to utilize the Tacoma accessory rail.

He claims that our uprights are interring with the latching mechanism.

All of that said......we have no control over mounting system of his cover. We were never told what cover he had in the first place. Even if we knew what cover he had, we can't possibly know exactly how every truck cover on earth mounts, nor can we know the location of all the latching mechanisms.

From the pictures that he sent us, I know that I could get the bars, cover, and tent mounted, but I'm more mechanically inclined than the average bear.

Regarding the "faulty bolt": Yes, it looks like one of the bolts that we supplied has excess zinc coating on it. Not the end of the world, but we're very sorry that happened (we don't make bolts, they are outsourced).

Regarding the powder coat: From the pictures he sent, the bars are scratched to shit from his installation attempts, exposing bare metal. Bare metal will rust if not touched up.

It is not our intention to downgrade this thread with all of this crap, but at the same time we feel the need to defend ourselves.

We have thousands of happy customers, and we intend to have thousands more.

Anyhooo.......this is not how I want to spend my night, I'm going outside to stack firewood.

 

Welp, I’ll second KBvoodoo. We’ve been very happy with ours. Had a small issue, but was resolved with one phone call. I love the fact that I can take it off with 4 bolts.

 

I bought the KB Voodoo 10" aluminum Taco Max with the tonneau brackets. I have been very happy with it and have no complaints with the product or customer service

 

If you are certain that you can get the bars, my cover, and tent all to work in conjunction, please let me know how. You have yet to offer ANY suggestions and you have all my contact info. As for your other happy customers, they're the reason I took a chance on you in the first place. There are many great looking envy worthy set ups out there that use your products, just hasn't been my experience.

The post above this revived an old thread. I checked it out because I’ve had a recent issue with my KB VooDoo rack and wanted to see what others recommend now.

Simple enough: one of the rivnuts gave out on my rack, so I sent an email to KB for advice. They replied with nothing but a suggestion to buy a new rack. Really? I was just asking for confirmation that it actually was a rivnut, what size it was, and maybe where to get one. Felt like I was a nuisance and had to pull teeth for some simple help. Not a fan of KB VooDoo. YMMV

 

Debating on a bed rack system vs the cross bars I now have. What brackets did you end up going with to attach your road shower. Tia.
