New member with a 2014 tacoma 4 dr, short bed. I'm interested in the Trac Rack bed rack which has a carrying capacity of 800+ lbs but the truck's capacity is apparently only 500 lbs due to the fiberglas bed. Are there any major problems with some loading in excess of the rating or ways to improve the capacity? Thanks for your help.

I've carried 1000+ lbs on a lumber rack :notsure:

And once carried 2000+ lbs in the bed.

If that makes you feel better

It does :) What year in your Tac? TracRac scared me, and Toyota confirmed that the fiberglas bed should not carry bed rack loads of more than 500 lbs-- so I was worried about cracking/failure-- although assume they are covering their rear ends but still. I assumed there was some wiggle room but 1000 lbs with no problems would be great!

I have no experience with tracrack I just know I've had that much weight on the bed rails/bed

That's the key test as the tracrac is rated up to 1200 lbs but they cautioned me about the fiberglas bed/side rail restriction by Toyota. There are too many of these racks on Tacomas to believe it's a major issue. Much appreciated!!
