I think I would need to add some to the box to fit. I think the 10'' is 5'' mounting depth. Thats about 1/4'' too deep for the box. Could I just make a spacer ring?

Cool! Thanks!! I think Ill prob. need a spacer ring for most of the subs I am thinking about besides the shallow mount subs. The mtx I have is touching the back of the box I have. And wow I just looked at mtx and the depth is 4-5/8'' so I deff. will need a spacer ring for anything 4-3/4 and over.

Does anyone know what the mounting depth is on the ascendant audio assassin 8"? Their website does not list the depth for the 8" for some reason.

I think there is a screw or two. Go to Image Dynamics website and search the dealer locator for one near you. Go to them and have them show you.

Its metal on the ID subs

My pics for Shallow mount subs, the Kenwood Excelons and Pioneer TSSW25001 that I previously mentioned (not the TSSW2501, there is a difference). If you got the money just do the JL 13TW5. Those are the only flats I would consider (and I have heard them all except the Memphis).

Those are primarily for home use.

I was never a RF fan of anything they made until the last 2 years. All their amps or solid, as long as its not the "prime" line. The subs and mids/highs, I'm still not a fan of, seen too many of their cheap plastic cones crack. I work for a Rockford dealer.

Interesting. Do you know if it's for shielding too or just aesthetics?

The Memphis is supposed to be decent and take a good amount of power too. The JL is a quality product but it's just so expensive. The SB acoustics sub I mentioned has some good parameters on paper and I've wanted to test one for some time.

The Stereo Integrity BM is going to be available at the end of this month. I have one on order (not for me). I'll be building enclosures for about 8 of the IS300 guys when those are ready.

And they are great in the car too. Trust me. ;)
Glad someone else knows about the cracking cones. Thought I was nuts. The only RF sub I liked that I've been alive and old enough to appreciate was the Punch HE2. Those things HAMMERED!

OK so my best bet is to go with a shallow mount 10'' or a 8''? Im having a sub overload, but in a good way!

1)What is your maximum mounting depth?
    2)What is your MAX price?
    3)What amp are you running?
4)Rattle your mirrors or beautiful music? (be honest)

Answer these three questions truthfully and I'll find you the most applicable subwoofer for your use.

    1. Max mounting depth without spacer ring 4-5/8.
    2. Max price about $150 to $200 depends on how good income tax check is.
    3. My current amp is a 4ch 400w supposedly class d amp running the components on the front 2ch and bridged rear channels for sub but have plans to get bigger amp. Again depends on what income tax check looks like. Prob. about a 1000w 4ch amp.
    4. I want it to be beautiful music with some kick when I want it, but not destort or sound like crap if I decide to turn it up.

    5. I guess I sould have said this in the first place but I listen mostly to rock about 80%, 20% rap.

The stereointegrity web page is not loading? But I remember it from earlier, if I rember correctly wasn't it like almost $300? That is kinda out of my price range. But the amp you listed is very nice!!

The page is loading for me just fine. Maybe try again? Also, there is a group buy on the subwoofer for pre-orders right now. Check out DIYMA.com and look in the vendors section. The pre-order group buy for them is $175 which should be perfect for you :)
