What's the best paint for touching up door edge nicks? Also, why is the paint and clearcoat on these trucks so thin???

I have used the paint pens from duplicolor and they kinda suck. I have heard this works really well http://www.drcolorchip.com

Just got done touching up a ton of paint chips and nicks on my fathers FJ with the Dr. color chip, I did not expect much, was I surprised.

Made a huge difference in the looks, after getting done, was difficult for me to find most of the ones I had fixed to even show him the repair.

This is on rather shallow small chips, if you have a large deep to the primer chip, then it off course will not smooth it out very much, simply color it, but it does help.

With some extra layers you might even help this a bunch, regardless this is a much better solution than the pain pens.

The best results I got was en the excess removal. Use the blending solution to wet the area and you will see a bit of haze where the excess paint is, then use the dry towel to buff it off like you would a car wax. I found if you try to simply remove all of the excess paint with the rag wet with blending solution, then you sometimes also remove the paint in the chip.

The kit is not cheap, but best touch up solution I have seen.

Good call. I have used duplicolor and automotive touch up to color match parts. Duplicolor sucks compared to ATU. If you want a real nice finish buy some 2K (catalyzed) clear coat in a can, you can get it off of Amazon.

I got the OEM touch up paint from the dealer. It was 9 bucks, but it's a perfect match.

Most people here use Duplicolor that I have found. You have to look and make sure that DC has your color code for paint pen. I found for my MGM they didn't. They had it in spray cans though.
