Bilstein 5100's Setting

I just bought front bilstein 5100's but I am not too sure whether what setting to set them on. I also ordered a 1.5' block. I'd like a 2.5 but I heard many problems arise with this setting. Do you all think a 1.75 with a 1.5 in the back will not look good? Or should I just go with the 2.5. I do not do much offroading, just ocassional ranch trips.

 

I voted for leveling at 1.75" and leaving the block out. Will have a slightly better ride and no rake, which I prefer.

 

Do you have the rear 2+1 leafs or TSB 3+1 leafs?

 

It is currently all stock ( suspension-wise). So im not sure how to answer your question.

 

My 2015 just needed the fronts at 1.75 to level it. But I have the 3+1 leaf pack. If you have the 2+1 leaf pack then you wwill a 1.5 AAL in the back. I personally would vever use a block, but it's your ride. So you need to figure out what's in the back. 2.5 I believe will be a very harsh or stiff ride.

First, your cab setup not mentioned will factor into it. Regular, access, dual cab. Second, what coils are on the billys. Stock coils are progressive so .85 setting c clip provides different ride height over say eibach 600s or OME 885s. Finally, blocks are fine, just viewed as cheap in some folks opinion, aal is a better option but then you also adjust the rear spring rate when doing this unlike with a block. Mine is base setting on billys with aal and blocks and shim in the rear and it is level, completely different variables. Bottom line, now comes the fun part of going with your best guess and take measurements at the same points to hub center for comparison when done.

 

I have a DCSB PreRunner with a 2.7 auto and a 2+1 OEM leaf pack. At the .85 setting on my 5100s, I got 1.5" of lift, and was nose high. Right now, I have a 2" lift in the rear which gives me a factory rake, if not slightly more.

Definitely take before measurements (I didn't... ), it will help later if you need to figure out what adjustments you need to make to get what result.

 

Quick glance under my name and it describes my build. ( double cab, short bed). It would be stock coils. Only thing Im adding are the two front adjustable 5100's and the 1.5' block. I heard aal gives a stiffer ride, and was recommended the block since I do not do much off-roading. Thanks for your input!

 

Put the block on, if you hate it, take it out. Some people hate blocks, some people hate AALs, it's really up to you what you and your truck/budget.

 

I'm pretty sure you will need new UCAs if you go up to the 2.5" setting for it to be done correctly. You might be able to get by without new UCAs, but eventually over time it will cause some trouble. That is why I went with the 1.75" setting on the front with stock coils and left the back alone (I have the 4 leaf pack) and mine is perfectly level.

Here is my truck with stock coils Billy's set at 2.5, rear TSB and a 1" block which probably equals the 1.5" block. Hope this gives you some perspective.

 

I just received my 5100's and was wondering do I need a coil spring compressor to install them? I'm new to the forum and I really enjoy reading all the info here. First time Tacoma owner and I love it!

 

Looks Great! So really it depends on the truck how much each setting looks like. From what I have read a 2.5 on one truck can look completely different on another truck with the same lift.
