    I'm back!
Most info covered in my previous thread and thanks.
    '97 4X4 V6 with 2" spacer lift.

I've decided to do my fronts first with the Bilstein coilovers which I can order with either 2880 (1.5" lift), 2881 (stock weight 2"-2.5" lift lift), or 2883 springs 200 xtra pounds 2.5-3" lift.

I want to stay at 2" lift.
Doubting my bumper and hitch weigh 200 lbs...
    So what to order?
But I want to buy an assembled shock I can possibly install myself.

Bumper and winch would push me toward the 2883, but I would take the time to guesstimate the weight you’ve got first. Stock bumper is lighter than you think, and tube bumper is probably heavier than you think.

But what about the extra weight, bumper and hitch? No matter?

Well...looking into winch and bumper weights per der web, bumper is at least 100#, winch maybe another 100#, so...

So they just told me with the extra weight the 2881 could ‘should do’…

I have 5100 with 881 in the front. Bumper and winch. It sags. I’m going to go 883, which is what I should have done in the first place. 881 perfect for stock bumper.

    Aftermarket skid plates? Air compressor?

Trying to think of things that add weight. Hard to say how much exactly because I cut my fenders and am on 35s but my 881s or 882s are sagged with a tube bumper, winch+synthetic line, full skids, sliders, etc

No, just the winch and bumper.
No, other items other than the lights…

O.K. got 'er done! 5100's front and rear with OME 2800 lift springs.
It rides like a new truck other than the 25 year old rattles.
Considering the research I had to do here and the worries, I'm pretty satisfied. Also considering how stiff it rode with the spacer lift, like it had no shocks at all, yes, like a buckboard.
Was it worth the $1200? Are you kidding? Absolutely. I've spent more than that on suspension for my motorcycles.
    Sweet...

Ya think this truck needed shocks?...

Only one thing left to do. Since the old set up was so thrashed, none of the parts where realistically reusable.
I believe there is a rubber spacer and washer that needs to be added under the shock shaft nut.
    Yes?...

Got a picture? Does it ride bad?

I ask because cruiser outfitters told me to go with 881s for the ARB and winch (single cab).

well I got the tube bumper and winch and it rides just fine. Doesn’t dive or do anything dumpy. Bilsteinlifts.com told me I should be OK with the 881s so I went with the rec.
Only had it on the streets and freeways as if today when I picked it up. But it’s stable and even feels like it steers better. But the old setup was shot so…
I imagine for my easy offroading it should be fine.

does not ride bad at all. The additional weight made it a bit more cush and soft. Which is a good thing. Only negative for me was that I sagged and lost 1” of lift. Because of my tire setup in 285/75/16 and the 15mm offset, it caused some rubbing. From my experience, my next route will be 883. Without bumper and winch, I’d stay 881.
