I just bought a 2021 tacoma sport. Much to my surprise they have hitachi shocks painted the color of bilsteins. I thoughr maybe hitachi owns bilstein but i dont see that reference anywhere. I am putting on 6112s and 5160s shortly i will compare the ride. The ride of the sport is firm for sure.

Still riding on my stock Hitachi shocks on my 2017 TRD Sport with 91,000 miles.

So far so good. Still pretty stiff but I drive 120 highway miles round trip per day.

Best of both worlds for my truck at the moment.

After I need to tow or haul something heavy, I’ll really know the answer to this age old thread.

I have 5100’s up front to level my truck and fit 1+ tires.. I left the rear set stock hitachi’s as is. I saw no need to replace the new Shocks now at stock height without any wear on them...
