Hi all, I just picked up a 2012 Tacoma with the non JBL head unit. Though I may replace it with something better down the road, it's adequate for now. I do like the features (Ipod controls, the presets, steering wheel controls etc).

I did search, but only found threads on connection issues via BT, so if that has been covered, please forgive me and direct me to the thread.

The problem is my transmitted call quality is horrible. Many won't even talk to me when I'm BT'd. I tried different phones and it's all the Toyota system. The one in my wife's 4runner is equally bad.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a solution? I did find on a Camry forum ppl who have swapped the mic out. Any other suggestions?

I've never heard a bluetooth call from anyone that didn't sound like crap. That goes for car units, headsets, anything. I have a friend that refuses to not use one whether he needs to or not, I don't take his calls either. I get tired of saying "What?" over and over and over again.

according to several calls i made with my wife, the stock 2013 bluetooth quality was really good. she couldn't even tell i was talking to her through the bluetooth. now the blueooth quality on my aftermarket pioneer is pretty bad. i only use when i absolutely need to. the quality through my wife's Alpine W535HD is pretty bad, too. i hate it when she calls me from her car.

Funny, the BT on the Pioneer in my Tundra is good, though it does pick up road noise. The Taco one, everyone I call hates, and say they miss my old BT, LOL

You guys are right though, all BT pretty much sucks.

BT in my 2014 is fantastic. Great quality. I get mad when I actually don't have it connected for whatever reason while I'm driving. Usually it automatically connects though as soon as I start the truck up. Music starts playing and if anyone calls it automatically picks it up. Love it. :D
