What is the best brake controller for an 07' Tacoma. I am looking to purchase one and would like your opinion.
    Thanks

Tekonsha P3. RV dealer quoted $300 to install a crappy controller. P3 $140 on Amazon, Plug and Play, Do it..

P3. Cheap and worth it for something as important as breaking.

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 for the most mounting options.

I like that it can be programmed. I have two settings for towing in mountains and then one for more level / rolling hills of Texas.

I don't have the tow package on my truck. I am looking at an aftermarket transmission and oil cooler. Is there an OEM harness out there to add a brake controller and the 7 pin adapter to make it plug and play?

    Another vote for Tekonsha Prodigy.
Never had it on the tacoma, but had it on Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram.

Has multiple settings for applying brakes harder/softer. And...a lever on the unit itself where you manually apply the trailer brakes (without hitting vehicle brakes).

Just to clarify, if I have a '07 with the tow package, it's plug and play. Right?

I ask because when I called Camping World, they didn't know.

    Thanks.

I got a Prodigy P2 I guess right before the P3 came out. Bought it just to haul ~9000lb camper from central Florida to above Atlanta, GA. Turned out the camper's wiring harness was shot, as was everything else, so I went to wal-mart and got some magnetic trailer lights. The magnetic lights work fine...but all I can say from experience with the Prodigy is:
    1) the light is bright as hell
    2) it looks high quality

I wish I could have actually used it...

Sure was! Great way to break in new leaf springs though :p
It was fun on roads with rolling bumps though. Kind of a see-saw effect. :D

he must be related to the old people that would put a 5th wheel setup in their 1987 2wd tacomas pull big campers.

Just put in a P2 a week ago- it worked great to bring home our new trailer.
easy to install, plug and play, three boost settings and manual control.

It's the same guts as the P3 but without the fancy display screen.
