OOH RAH , i have a 2014 tacoma 4 dr with 23,000 miles. i developed a clicking sound when i apply my brakes either hard or soft about half the time they are applied.. this started on tuesday past. i took it back to toyota yesterday the 13th and after they had it , they found nothing wrong and that its normal with that amount of miles. WOW 23,000 miles in 28 months and this is normal. i told them i,ll see them next week to again have them check it with a different mechanic or i,ll try another dealer here in new jersey. CAN ANYONE HELP here on the forum if they had the same problem . SEMPER FI Travis

    Welcome to TW.

Can you provide more detail on the clicking?

Is it inside our outside the cab, under the hood, from a particular wheel, any vibration or change in braking action? Has the truck had anything out of the norm done recently? That kind of stuff..

Even better maybe post a vid...someone will have some feedback I'm sure.

If the clicking is developing under change of direction, then that issue is related to lack of lubrication on the brake pad pins which hold them in place to the fixed caliper. It is most likely they are just dry and allowing shifting of the pads slightly which is the sound you are hearing. I developed the issue right around the same time you did and dealt with it until about 60,000 miles. I have since replaced the brake pads with some Kevlar based replacements and added an extra retention spring to the top of the caliper, as the factory only equips the caliper with one for some stupid reason. After generously applying lube to the pins and adding that secondary spring, my clicking sound is no more.

If you need pictures to see what I am talking about I can upload them for you.

Did you neglect the brake service every 20,000 miles or 24 mo?
