upload_2022-7-20_12-17-55.jpg Well the frame on my 01 4x4 has broken, back by the passenger side rear wheel. The truck is in decent shape otherwise. V6 engine with149,600 runs good, and it was doing great until this happened. I was hoping to drive it for a long time. Looking for ideas on what to do with it now.

Sorry to hear my friend. Looks like it's time to stick a fork in it. It's done.

If you can replace the frame yourself, it's that time. If you can't, you might want to sell it to someone who can.

As above time to replace the frame and any other assorted rusted out pieces.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Sadly another one having no clue of these frame issues.

All depends on what skills you have if you can do the work yourself.

Likely if you could it would be in progress already .

I bought my 2000 for $500.00 and drove it home.

This didn't happen overnight. The truck was not doing great. You should have been on top of this issue years ago.

    Oh look, another mod....

He also has bald-ish tires. Another thing he should have been on top of, but clearly is not.

This is a 22yr old truck that lives in the Rust-Belt. Checking for rust should have been done multiple times every single year so it could be addressed right away.

This is deliberate neglect that has gone on for years. Now, this is the end result of that neglect.

You could put bandaids on it like I did with mine (see link below), but at the end of the day you're gonna need a frame or a frame rebuild, the other option route is to get out of it, like those above suggested.

You know the rest of the under carriage is toast.....when u do most anything down there up front you'll most likely have to cut bolts and whatnot....
So motor and body is what u got a left.....
If your not needing a project truck for a long time......sell it....get what suits u best.

It just looks like up there your always gonna have to be washing and watching those under carriage.....
These's guys got me scared shitless.....mines cleaned, epoxied, and fluid film inside......

I might suggest that if you park it in the ocean, which it looks like you do, I'd maybe inspect your vehicle more than once every other decade.

    Yikes.

Seriously dude, that amount of frame cancer doesn't just appear overnight. As others have said, this is the result of SERIOUS neglect on your part. You say "it runs great" but I honestly doubt that. I'm betting this truck is more or less a lost cause. Every single bolt and bracket on this is easily just as rusty.

Part it out for interior parts and toss the rest off a cliff and get a new truck.

Like a couple others have mentioned, it won't just be the frame that needs to be addressed as there'll be plenty of other parts that are roached out.

Side note, the shock(s) looks pretty new in those photos so whoever was under the truck recently replacing them was either completely clueless or simply turned a blind eye and gave zero Fs about the frame.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Replace the frame.

At least do it for the truck's sake, considering I'm sure it's done a lot for you already.

150k miles is low, and I'd hate to see that truck go to waste.

And like others mentioned, rust does not happen overnight. That accumulated over many years for it to completely tear through the way it did.

Time for a SafeTCap frame kit and some welding. But that’s some extensive rust so a new frame might be cheaper.
