BS Frame Rot Rant

Got my 2001 gen 1 Tacoma
Took a look underneath and she needs damn near 3k worth of labor to get the frame replaced. The salt in my town eats cars away. I was able to stick my pinky through the frame.

 

Step #1 when buying a used body-on-frame truck in the rustbelt/NorthEast is to crawl underneath for a thorough rust inspection....

 

You live and you learn, i thought it was solid at first glance, then i got it up on jacks and it's damn near all gone

 

Welcome to TW! Tacoma frames are known for this. In 2010, Toyota corporate bought my 2000 back from me on the original frame recall. The 2001’s and newer they started replacing the frames if it was within 12 years of the in service date.
