    They DO exist! Anybody who's looking for some downright bulletproof skidplates should give Bud a call. There's a pretty serious waiting list for these things but they're well worth the wait.

    The skids fit tight against the frame and mine needed the obvious modifications to clear the differential drop kit. If you're not running a diff drop, these will bolt right up without too much effort.

    The skidplate kit comes with an additional cross-member to support the back edge of the rear skid. Mine was welded but the frame can be drilled and the cross-member can be bolted in place.

    A gas tank skid is also available. Before any of you take your trucks into a serious offroad situation, replace that factory tin!! :D

    ive met Bud on several occasions

    incredibly nice guy...and he wheels the PISS out of his tacoma...ive got both the front skid and belly pan from him but for a 1st gen...regardless...badass skids...

    the ONLY downside ive found is it makes oil changes messy...but thats why i pay someone to change my oil

    i got mine back when i destroyed my stock skid...called him the day after...told him the deal...i had my new skid at my door within a week

    Thanks Tiger. I'll be giving them a call today. When were doing my lift and my friend threw the stock skid plate out we honestly thought somebody had knocked over a beer can. Then last night I was out on the trail and went through some sketchy stuff. So it's time to stop putting off the trail armor.

    I'm debating on wether or not I want to get some for my Prerunner. I might not do hard core wheeling but I'd rather have more protection than I need than not enough. Looks great!!

    Thanks, and I say go for it! :D In as-delivered form the skids don't have the 2 square boxes hanging down so yours will look even more slick!

    Based on shipping information the skids I have are around 140lbs. The gas tank skid would add a bit more to that.

    LOL! Somebody's paying attention. :D

    The rear axle housing is gusseted and the three tubes you see will serve double-duty as traction bars and driveshaft protection. The bottom 2 tubes will have some curved plate steel welded to them to keep the driveshaft and e-locker actuator from becoming friendly with rocks and such.

    Just ordered up the skid package deal from Bud. Awesome guy to deal with. It'll be here by the end of the week.

    mjp2, I mentioned you on the phone and he appreciated the warning call this morning but the phones have been ringing off the hook since :p I guess all it takes it his product to end up on one Baja 1000 rig and it opens the flood gates.

    Just a little update. I talked to Bud last night and he's making sure that he gets the geometry right for front skid plates to clear the diff drops most everybody has on their truck. He's trying to keep the skid plate completely smooth while adjusting the angles for clearance. Can't wait to get'em in. I'm sure I'll be impressed.
