SO I just bought a used camper shell but don't really have a good place to mount the brackets. My initial thought was to just drill holes in the plastic bedliner, directly below the flat spots in the shell where brackets are supposed to be mounted. Two questions:

Can anyone tell me the ideal place to drill these holes so I don't just go at it blindly?

Second, this truck has the AC Pwer outlet in the lower Passenger side corner. I've looked for wiring diagrams to find out where those wires run. I don't want to drill into them for obvious reasons. Anyone know where these route to and where or where not to drill?

    THanks!

    Joe

Hit google and look for camper shell clamps and see if something like that would work. Try to avoid drilling holes if you can. I had these clamps on my old 1991 truck and they were awesome. With the new 2013 I have, I don't know if these style clamps will work because of the guide rail for the tie downs.

My shell is mounted using the rails in the bed. Could you figure something out to use them, that way you dont have to drill the bed?

I figured there had to be something that would work with the rails. Thanks for the suggestions fellas.

The ARE dealer supplied these. No holes to drill in your cap.

    Do not drill.
    Use clamps as advised.

My shell is mounted with four bolts like OZ-T and Rocketball show. I cannot keep mine on tight. One of the bolts broke a while back, so I am looking to add some extra clamps. I would like to find some clamps like Vtscott used. The part number is apparently API AC110UL-TC. Several search engine inquiries for a source were fruitless, except possibly for EBay, where I do not care to deal. Does anyone know where they can be found?

Try McMaster Carr. I bought some t slot nuts from them that fit in the rails, those in particular wont work for you, but they might have something that would work. If the bolts are just backing out, try to double nut it.

Thanx for the quick reply. Double nuts won't work--there isn't enough room. The bottom of the rail is too close. I'll check out McMaster Carr. Those clamps look ideal, tho.

FWIW, I tried a bit more searching on the web and found this source: http://apiclamps.com/ Their AC110ULP4-TC does the job. I ordered on Wed or Thur and received them on Saturday. This link shows their clamp configurations: http://www.apiclamps.com/pdf/size.pdf BTW, the note "Clamps shown actual size" is not accurate for a printout.

What did it cost you for 4? I see some guy selling them on ebay for $50 but I suspect that's overpriced. I emailed API direct to see what they charge. Couldn't find them on their mail-order site.
