My October purchase 2016 Tacoma A/C TRD Sport has been at the dealer with 1,000 miles and over 30 days for unreasonable cab noise.
The two vents at the back of the cab stand open and don't close.
When you go down the road the open vents suck air causing the door gaskets to suck air and whistle Been this way since delivery
The dealer lead tech and service advisor and Service Manager. All drove the truck and all say it is wrong way too much noise. Toyota sent a guy that thought there was only 1 vent. But they all have 2. Each one has 4 doors and all 8 doors on mine are open.
He after looking said Toyota has no answer the vent cannot be changed out or modified.

Toyota says they have no fix for the issue. Then today a Customer service rep called and they think the truck is fine according to the dealer and field rep. There is no fix or repair???????????

I hung up and called back and asked for someone to look at it again.
Also my truck has factory dent in the box that was noted on delivery.
The open vent issue lets in exhaust noise and fumes and lots of tire noise.

They said someone within 24 hrs will call back.
Maybe trade to another dealer is the best answer. I want a new BMW. Also Thinking of just suing Toyota.
    if they fail to act!

I'm not normally an advocate of this, but sounds like it is time to start making some noise. Demand to start going through the arbitration process mentioned in the sales agreement. Start talking lemon law and start documenting everything. Maybe they will pick up the ball, but do some googling and see if you can get someone who has gone through it before. Too much money lost to trade it away.

It is clearly not normal. TW doesn't miss a pop, whistle or buzz out of place and you are the only one I have heard of with this particular issue.

If it's been at the dealer for an extended period of time I believe that is a lemon law qualifier.

Yea but I believe that's if the dealer wants to keep it but I think this sounds more like the owner is forcing them to. So that gets sticky

On 2nd gens the vent is a $70 replaceable piece (http://www.villagetoyotaparts.com/p...UATER-VENTILATION--RH/2177673/6290504040.html). I doubt Toyota redesigned the part to be non-removable for 3rd gens. Go to the dealer's parts counter and ask them to pull up the 2016 parts catalog and look for it. If they can find it, you have all the ammo to get the dealer to replace them under warranty.

Damn, maybe I'm just getting older, but mine is quiet. Absolutely none of the reported noise here and on the other thread.

Maybe some ammo for "not normal".

Funny, I'm from Jax but relocated to NC a few years ago in the airline business.

I have a BR DC 4WD V6 AT SR5. It was built in TX, October 15th.

I still have less than 2000 miles on it, but I have found literally NOTHING wrong with mine. Fit, finish, engine, tranny, interior noise, etc.

I'm going to take it out today and really listen again for the noise everyone is talking about between 30-45 mph. I'll report back.

Toyota thinks the noise is OK? When I have 3 witnesses to call in court from the dealership. So looks like I'm looking for Lawyers this morning They can't fix my defective truck! 10,000 cash retainer is going out this morning!

    Howdy

We have a new Texas built. TRD access Cab bought in Oregon with the same noise issues.

I wonder if anyone has turned "off" the flow thru ventilation control to see if this affects the noise?

I will also be calling Toyota then the dealer about the noise....I make lots of road trips.

Same here. I came from a rubicon though so it's possible I just don't notice the noise. I think it drives really good.

I just picked mine up last night I bought and traded in a 15 Tundra that was great but just too big. Drove 45 miles to get mine all hyw and driving it back and driving to work 40 miles this morning and at this time mine is very quite too and that is coming from a 15 tundra crew. Crew road a little better but bigger longer wheel base. But this truck so far is very quite and smooth.

Working with another guy on this thread with a noisy truck, I did another test on mine today. I do not have the noise issue being discussed here and on the other thread. No wind noise, no harmonics, no A-440 tone. Nothing but what I can consider normal vehicle sounds.

Something is not right with these trucks with the problem. Mine was built in Texas, Oct, 15th.

Here I will sum this up for everyone. I hate to call anyone out on a thread but this can't be ignored.

" I want a new BMW. Also Thinking of just suing Toyota. if they fail to act!"

When did BMW start making trucks?

OP- When you file for the lemon law and hire a lawyer, you do not pay a dime. The manufacture MUST pay attorney fees for lemon law cases, not the consumer. Win or lose. I suggest for you to do some research on your states lemon law. I'm currently in the process with a 15' Tacoma.

Here in NY the vehicle must be in the shop atleast 4 times or longer than 30 days to file a lemon law claim. Different states may very but I'll bet you only took it in once or twice. 98% They will end up looking into the issue and fixing it before it gets to the point where you can file a lemon law claim.
