The video is not mine but my truck is making the exactly same noise when I back-in to park the truck.

Any ideas? I would rather not go to a dealership if I can avoid it these days.

Leaf springs or breaks it sounds like to me. It’s in the back correct? Any recent mods?

In the back, no mods all stock. Around 26K kms on the truck.

Rock in the break drum, or leaf spring binding would be guesses. Might be better to have someone back your truck up with you outside of it to get a better read on where it’s coming from for a different perspective than being in the cab.

Definitely have some creaking springs, but that clicking is strange. Only when going into park is weird too. Loose U joint?...

I have under March 2021 for warranty work so I want to get it checked out relatively soon but it doesn't sound like a major safety issue or anything. I'm also uneasy about having some tech in the interior of my truck so I don't want to risk exposure over another "this is normal" dealership line.

I do have this issue every morning when backing into stall at work. Believe it to be something in the braking system as it happens when brakes are tapped or pressed for a full stop. Also does this on my Gx470 during same maneuver.

I have this same sound in the same situation as the OP on my 2017 TRD 4x4. No issues with running or driving but the sound drives me a little nuts.

Just got this in mine. It’s the passenger side leaf spring front mount from what I can tell. Maybe the bushing. Once I figured out what it was I no longer gave a shit. Not about to fall off so, I’ll get to it when I get to it. More pressing things to deal with.

    I think I hear a universal joint click .
You do know if you have grease zerks on those critters , they need to be greased at every oil change .
I will also mention that in order to properly check for seized universal joints , you gotta pop that driveshaft off .

U joint. Crawl underneath with the rear off the ground and move the drive shaft.

If it is the U joint make sure it greased. I’ve seem some without zerks.

I have the exact same sound/click coming from my 2017 TRD O/R-LB. I only hear it while in reverse as I back into my driveway, or into a parking stall. This has been going on for at least 2 years now, but again...I only hear it when in reverse as I'm backing in to park. I have never heard this sound/click in drive either. I have crawled under the truck to find it, and have lubed up points of contact where I thought the click was coming from but it is still there. I had my truck's entire suspension checked by a mechanic I trust who also lubed up points of contact he felt needed lubrication, but the click is still there. Nothing is broken or worn according to the mechanic...so, I have decided to just live with it if it ain't broken...but I am still curious where the noise/click is coming from. If anyone figures it out, please share and I will do the same if I ever find out.

Any luck on what the noise can be? I had this noise before my lift and its still there. I only hear it when reversing.

Pull your brake pads out of calipers. Clean back of pads, shims and pins. Apply new brake pad grease to all three. Had this same noise in reverse. Problem solved.
