Clockspring replacement

Well i found a good deal on an OEM replacement that was supposed to be the correct part. Its missing a wiring plug connection. Called the dealer he said there were 5 different ones, ran my VIN and gave me the part number. When i looked at pics if the number he gave me, it looked identical to the wrong one i have. Any ideas? Pics are of the old one from my truck. I need one like this. The white plug is what missing on the supposed new ones.

 

There are only two different part numbers for 2nd gen. 84306-04080 for w/o steering wheel controls and 84306-0E010 for with steering wheel controls.

 

Neither of those show to have the white section that mine has. I do have steering wheel controls for the radio.

 

There is a piece you need to take off the old one possibly? I made this mistake when I did mine

It's molded into the housing... I was hoping I could just transfer it... nope.

Your truck must have VSC. That’s the steering sensor. It’ll separate.

 

So evidently it WILL separate? I guess I will be taking it apart again tomorrow. Thanks bill!

 

just wanted to pop back in and update. i had the incorrect clock spring, when i recieved the correct one (determined by VIN), the steering sensor Bill mentioned went right on it. my cruise control is again working like it should.

side note: instead of the $300 one from the dealer, i took a chance on a $6.99 (free shipping) one from Ebay using the factory part number. so far, so good!

 

The funny thing is that a lot of the asian car parts manufacturers who make the OEM parts will keep the factories running to make "aftermarket" parts. It might be identical to the OEM part, but without the $293 markup.

I got this when I plugged in info on my truck!?!
I have all the steering wheel controls, VSC, etc.
My mechanic says don't pay for factory replacement, order one online for about $50
I cant seem to find one I am confident in purchasing.
Any one have a idea on ways I can search and find a replacement clock spring for above vehicle?

I have a buddy who has a 2009 Tacoma and there was a recall on the clock spring and he got it fixed for nothing.

 

The recall cutoff is part way through model year 2010.

 

Just bought one for my truck yesterday from ebay for $45. I had to order the 84306-0E010 model with steering controls. I also looked up the recall and it seems that trucks like mine were not included, maybe because it has steering wheel controls. The OEM part was about $254. Hopefully this fixes the cruise control.

It's just when I plug my vehicle info on the Ebay site for this part, I get a red prompt saying 84306-0E010 does not fit my vehicle!?!

Their reply was "it is not compatible"
