    Hi all,

I recently had an incident with reverse jumping my 2008 Tacoma (don't ask)...since then I have gotten a CO215 error code when I hook up the computer.

I replaced the left rear wheel sensor as matches up with the error code, but I am still getting the error. Any thoughts as to what else it could be/what I should check next?

I cleared the code, but it still comes up...

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

    • Speed sensor
    • Speed sensor circuit
    • Speed sensor installation
    • Brake actuator (skid control ECU)

It could be the electrical wiring harness or the sensor not seated into the housing all the way.

Hi Mike, I am getting the same error code. Did you ever figure it out?
    Thanks

That code is for the left rear wheel speed sensor.
I would start by inspecting the wiring and connector there first.

Typically it's the harness on the rear axle, but also a blown rear axle seal can cause this.

Thanks for the responses. It was sitting in a dirt salvage lot for awhile and is impossibly dirty. I'm going to disconnect that sensor give it a good clean and see if that fixes the problem.

So I inspected the connections (at the sensor and where the right and left rear meet), cleaned them with electronics cleaner and added some dialectic grease. I also did swap out the rear left sensor with an inexpensive after market (Holstein). ABS light is still on, I also have the E-Brake light on. When I had the wheel off, I noticed some damage to the brake line, looks like it got pinched. Do you think there is not enough brake fluid getting to the wheel and it's causing the CO215 code and E-Brake light? Brake fluid getting to the wheel cylinder or not does not activate the Brake Light. Check for low brake fluid level at the master cylinder, check the emergency brake switch operation. Those are the two most common problems for the Brake Light being illuminated in the dash.

that rig has been strapped to a flatbed/trailer by someone who didnt care about it. They threw the tiedown straps right over the lines and pulled them tight to the housing while pulling the truck down tight to the deck. I would expect either or both sides of the harness to have internal breaks in the wire. Ohm them out.

Fixed it! I actually took the time to learn how to use my multimeter and tested the rear abs cable. There was no continuity to the left side, so I swapped it out today. Got an OEM from the Stealer for $90. Boom! ABS and Parking brake lights are both out. I also installed four new cats and four new O2 sensors, it was a productive day. Now I just have to get the SRS light to turn off and I'll be ready my rebuilt title inspection. I think it's the clock spring, but the horn works, so maybe I can just clean it. Thank you to everyone for your help.
