    Hey all,

I just hit about 7k miles on my 2015 v6 auto 'coma and I tried starting it after work today in about 35 degree weather. It started, however it took about 8 cranks and coughed up and started. I have always noticed that this truck takes a little more cranking when starting (4-5 cranks in 20 degree weather) which is fine; noting that it is cold outside. I do have an auto start installed from the dealer but I don't use it too much anymore after realizing my dealer didn't set the crank duration long enough for cold weather. While using the key, this situation (6-8 cranks) has happened twice in two seperate occasions. It's kind of getting on my nerves since I feel like I am cranking over some pos Oldsmobile from the 80's with no compression and fouled plugs.

I just spent 30k on this truck and everything else is freaking awesome about it....but am I missing something here? Am I running shitty gas or something?(always fill up at samsclub)

Note: I really want to avoid bringing this to the dealer for the issue because it is intermittent and I'd just be wasting my time at any of the local dealerships(horrible service, "can't replicate the issue", do more damage than good, etc...y'all know the szpeel)

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

You should be asking yourself why dont you have the crank duration increased! You paid money for it why not use it.

Longer crank times are common on our Tacos. Considering you have only run into 2 or 3 times, doesnt sound like an issue.

I would have taken care of the auto start by the dealer, but the dealer I bought it from is about 250 miles away. Also wonderful Toyota doesn't produce an oem one so it had to be aftermarket which is only honored by that dealer.

Toyota executive : "We'll make a truck that is made for the North American market"

Toyota engineer: "it's cold up there in some parts no? We should have an oem auto start so people who care about their engines and want heat can have it as a convenience option."

Toyota executive: "go back into your hole engineer, we must save 5 dollars on each unit"

Me: "Result, I have a shitty auto start"

When I lived in MA. And my jeep didn't start with auto start after I pushed the button and it cranked a few times, I pushed it again. Worked the nuts.

My '15 with about 6,000 miles did this randomly the other day too. After searching around the forums it seems to be something all Tacos do. I wouldn't worry about it unless your truck happens to not start at all. It's definitely frustrating though. I feel the same way after having spent so much $$$ on it.

Just put some shell gas in it. About a half tank. It starts great in the cold now. I'm just going to assume the gas I got had a crappy winter blend/moisture or something.

That stuff saved my ass before. I used it in my old car when I got some water buildup in my gas and it froze in my fuel pump/filter assembly. Parked that bitch in the sun and put some of that get stuff in there and started right up. Never had the issue again.
