    Hello all,

I know this has been discussed, but is there a consensus for a comparable tire for the discontinued Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar 265/70/16?

I have a 20' TRD Pro and it is time to change the tires. I have seen some talk on the Wrangler Territory AT for being comparable, but I wanted to see if there were other opinions. I am city driving with a lot of stop and go and some highways also. I am in PA so I also need to be ready for snow winters. I liked the Kevlar's and do not know why they discontinued them.

    Thanks!

Thank you, @eurowner. I do like those. I wanted to see what options were out there. How are they for highway?

I am running the nitto ridge grapplers, feel they are quieter then the Toyo AT3s (take that with a grain of salt, I wear a hearing aid for a reason). But have had good luck with the nitto Tera grapplers and cooper (pretty sure they were the Zeon LTZ) on my last few trucks too.

They are superior over the OEM GY Wranglers in every way, road conditions, etc for me living in the high rocky mountains of Colorado.

I run Toyo AT2s now on the AT3s. Awesome tire, great warranty, ride, quiet, easy to balance and not too expensive! Plus they are extremely good off road and in the rain.

I have the Toyo's on my F150 and have been happy with them. They ride good and are relatively quite. They do make some noise, but it isn't bad at all. I've had them 2 years and about 25,000 miles. They are holding up well and provide decent off road traction.

My Tacoma is 16 years old and isn't used for longer trips. It is mostly driven locally and I'm more likely to take it off road. I wanted a more aggressive tire for it or I'd have put Toyo's on it as well.

I put Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws in 265/75 R16 on my 2020 Pro. A little noisier on the highway but not significantly and the tread is more aggressive. I'm happy with them.

Any change in mpg? Looking at the AT3s for my next set. I have general Grabber ATX's which are phenomenal off road, but definitely took a fuel mileage hit. I have 50k miles on them and they just keep going lol, they're barely starting to show some tread wear.

Get an SL rated tire. I'm on 285s, tuned and about 18.5 mpg in town driving.

Yeah I'm leaning toward that. E rated are indestructible but I lost about 1.5mpg, which adds up over time. I also plan on going with a skinny 33 but am having trouble actually finding one for a 16in rim

Edit: Also I feel the need to say that the stock wranglers are garbage. I hit a minor pothole going 10mph in a parking lot and blew two. Kevlar my butt.

I have 265/65R17 SL rated Toyo ATIIIs on my Tacoma. Great all around tire - for my driving anyways. Gravel resource roads during hunting and fishing season and great on wet roads. Minimal change in gas mileage - maybe an extra 0.5 L/ 100 KM on my annual 2000 KM fly fishing trip. A decrease of less than 1 MPG I guess that converts to.

The Wrangler Territory AT is the same tire with a slightly more aggressive side wall. It is what the new Tacoma TRDOR and Pros come with. Literally the same tread pattern too. They do have Kevlar as well. You just have to make sure you get the new version of the Wrangler Territory ATs. There is an old version that is different. I took this photo of the new ones in the lot of my local dealership. It's not so much that they discontinued the Wrangler Kevlar. They just rebranded them. 20221029_111209.jpg

I found the ATIII to be quieter and much better on snow/slush-covered roads compared to my ATII.

Everyone is just posting their favorite tires without actually answering your question: what’s similar to the stock Wranglers?

The Wranglers are not super aggressive and they’re tuned for a bit higher MPG than most other all terrains. Other tires in this category:

    • Nitto Nomad Grappler
    • BFG Trail Terrain
    • Continental TerrainContact AT
    • Bridgestone AT Revo 3
    • General Grabber APT
    • Nokian Outpost APT
    • Hankook Dynapro AT Extreme

THIS RIGHT HERE! So many posts here where people ask questions, rarely do we get solid answers.

"Here's what I have without giving you feedback or empirical data!"

I only have 6K miles on my truck but am one of the rare guys who hasn't found a problem with the OEM provided tires. They're light, quiet and do well for my 99.9% of paved driving. For the occasional light off-pavement use and even when I find mud/sand/clay to play in they still do OK. I know I'll be looking for something similar when the time comes.

Note: I had Nitto Recon Grapplers and I meant Nitto Nomad Grapplers. I edited my post but wanted to call that out. I get those mixed up sometimes.
