    Just a quick question

Do you find that you get better gas mileage on the interstate when using cruise control or when not using it?

x2 kinda. i have not seen a big increase in MPG with it. but it keeps my speed down by probably 5 to 8mph sometimes more, so thats why i use it a lot when i go to town.

Yes for me. I have a bad habit that if I'm talking to someone in the truck and not paying attention to my speed, I gradually get faster and faster, lol.

I have found that if there's any climbing involved, the cruise will shift at weird points so I turn it off if I'm in the mountains.

I think that it really depends on where you live. When I drive in the Prairies I find it doesn't make a difference. When I go through the Rocky Mountains and use it, I notice a difference. Heading West, I've just learned not to use it.

My last trip heading west, I had done 400km's to half a tank(without cruise). I think that there is more downhills then up hills heading west as well.

With a stick I get excellent results using CC almost all the time.

Not sure if that is true with the automatic that I hear likes to drop 2 gears and then overshoot by 5+ mph on the slightest hill.

Barring an error, the computer can drive it better than me. I have gotten a slight improvement with gas mileage the more I use it.

If you're driving an automatic, V6. Keep your RPM's below 2000. When you're coming to a hill your cruise wants you to keep that same speed, not the RPM's. It took some practice to get it right. I found online(here) traveling at 97 km/h is the best speed to get the best MPG. I called BS, but it was right. Just after that 97 km/h is when the RPM's hit 2000 and above.

If its flat I would use cruise but if not then stay off cruise control. If its hilly I like to gain a little extra speed down hills so I don't have to step on the gas as hard going up the hill

    I drive a 6 speed so I don't have the automatic troubles.

I only really use it on flat roads going 60 or more.

I get better mileage without cruise control, but on a long drive I'll use it on flat areas to give my leg/foot a rest.

I was towing a trailer on a flat highway against a head wind, trying to use cruise control caused the transmission to downshift. No downshifting with cruise control off, using my foot.

Not sure the mpg is better, but it is easier long distance driving and don't make others crazy with inconsistent speed going back and forth.

I get better with CC. I do have an automatic and mine does not want to down shift like others only because of the supercharger. If you driving with CC turn it off going up hill so it does not want to downshift.

On flat, open roads, I'll get better MPG with cruise control. If driving in hilly terrain, I do better with me controlling the throttle.

I found that just doing the speed limit just pisses people off, especially when there are tons of hills.
