    awesome

its not really "winding" it...all the needles have a stopping point which is where they sit when the truck is turned off...if you move them ever so slightly...it will read way off :anonymous:

    I bounce it offa stuff.
Yeah i wonder how the inside of that servo is set up... almost like the needle was "unscrewed" and slipping. Got my scanner set up but to scan the overlay I need 13.5" and the bed of the scanner is 11". So it looks like I'm SOL for what I was trying to do. I didn't use tape to mark needles, bc I didn't want the tape to be in the scanned image. I turned the truck on and took a picture of where they were.

So the process is to remove the dash, photograph the panel, pry the needles directly up and off, and don't touch the shafts?

Yeah Rich pretty much nailed what I was going for. Hoping to be able to go in and edit the background color or add a graphic and print it off, probably on some kind of vinyl or heavy cardstock and laminate it- something that would let some light though- and cut to fit. Problem is the gauge is 13.5" end to end. Maybe try Kinko's? It'd probably be worth it just to go with the blackcat's.

Run a 2-piece. Your scanner bed should be large enough to get the full speedo and tach, then scan the right cluster by itself, then merge the two scans.
With a good cut/paste, you can get the joint in the scanned sections to fall under the divider.
