Been needing a good place to mount my ScanGauge for some time now. Had it sitting on the dash above the head unit for a while which worked fine, until the sun hit it and the adhesive on the velcro kept melting.. Saw a ton of different ideas on here, but none of them were exactly what I was looking for. Primary requirements were something that wouldn't obstruct visibility at all, and also allow for quick removal. That way I can still read / clear CEL codes on other vehicles if needed.

Above or below the mirror was a no go for me. With a mirror riser theres no room above. And mounting the SG below the mirror kinda defeats the purpose of the relocation riser in the first place..

Then I found this thread. Tried his setup for a few days and it worked great. Only problem was the sunvisor blocks the top part of the screen.

Figured I could make my own with some 1/16" x 3/4" aluminum bar from Lowes for a few bucks. With an integrated half inch standoff from the sun-visor it should be the perfect height. The result turned out great! Especially considering I did the whole thing with just a few pairs of pliers haha. The wire tucks up under the headliner and down along the plastic A-pillar cover out of the way. Hopefully this idea helps someone mount a ScanGauge or something else up out of the way

    The finished product (2x)

Not bad for hand tools. Rounded off the corners with a file

3M double sided tape should withstand the temps

As I see it driving own the road

    Nice

I did the tape measure clip trick as well on mine - so simple, yet so effectively. Maybe two is better but mine seems to be holding on just fine with a single clip. I still need to tuck my wires behind the pillar :(

did you have to open the clip up to keep from smashing the curved lip on the head liner at the edge of the wind shield?
That's my concern. other wise a great idea

I did bend mine horn a tiny bit but more for a better fit, it wasn’t smashing anything before that. Different tapes will have different clips so I imagine YMMV. I had two beater tapes at home and used the clip that was best suited for the job.
