Hey guys, adding the front camera, tested everything and all was well. As I pulled the wire, I stupidly pulled too hard and the camera wires broke apart. I thought, no big deal, I'll just tape them back together, but I'm not getting any image at all. Any ideas?

There is probably a break somewhere else in the harness. Also, it looks like one of the wires is shielded? If so, try rejoining that together.

Solder them back together and heat shrink the wires. It’ll be cheaper than replacing the harness.

Looks to me that the shielded wire is the video cable... if so, you can attempt to reattach by way of solder, but you’ll have poor video quality and the system will fail at some earlier than normal point. Best to replace the entire cable if able, or get a whole new camera replacement if those wires are direct to the camera.

What you can try to do is cut off that part of the damaged cable and cut back some of the wires about 2-3”, then take the insulation off of the individual leads and solder them together. Since this is a video feed, the quality may be degraded somewhat so it is always best to replace the entire cable run if you can. I did that exact same thing when installing my front camera and tried to do a solder repair, but the wire is so fine that i couldnt solder it nicely and get it to work so i just ended up buying a whole new RCA cable. Sucks since i had to wait for it to come from Amazon.

I tried putting the wires together in every configuration possible and I just couldn't get a signal. I even pulled 2 feet of cable to ensure that there were no breaks in the line and still no dice. Sucks because it was a $40 camera and now I just bought a $22 camera to offset my loss.

Yeah, i know how that feels. At least the cable i damaged was only $10, not $40.

Which cable did you get? I just noticed that I can simply replace the cable and keep the camera! I have the natika camera

Hey guys, just an update: I ordered a knock off Natika camera that should come with the exact same wiring harness for $12.99. It'll come in Saturday and if it works, I'll run the same Natika camera with the new wiring harness from the knockoff camera. IF it works, I'll be able to compare the camera's and I'll post a new thread for those of us that are looking for a back up or front facing camera. $13 vs $40; big difference for us poor folk!
