Searched google for pictures and the forums for the same mud flap “mod” and didn’t see any similar chops. This is simple, no tech, no headache - just good looking flaps at the end of the day. Figured I’d share a possibly less used method for mud flap trimming.

I originally took my flaps off and did not like the voids that were now open from where the flaps mount on the inside of the fender well. So I cut them almost down to nothing. I really like the look and “function” of them. You can spend as much time shaping as you’d like and trim them back to almost nothing while retaining some form of “protection” and keeping the inner fender voids covered.

You are aware if you didn’t want them that you could’ve just unbolted the 3 bolts that hold them on, then ran the bolts back in the holes, and sold the uncut flaps to some fool like me?

The flaps can bottom out and rub the ground right? I think that's happening to mine and I'm not sure if I want to trim them.

Nice job on the cut but honestly I don't see what the point was cutting them that short. They serve absolutely no purpose now & you might as well have just taken them off. Looks cleaner without them IMO anyway.

Fronts are famous for ripping off on the 05-15 models, better to just remove them if you're bottoming out.

I'm a big fan of mud flaps on all vehicles, but really the rears are all you need.

I think they look good but as a motorcyclist I know a truck with all terrains and no mud flaps in the rear means I'll be catching a lot of gravel from the road.

I would like to find a set that aren’t labeled 4x4. Mine have seen better days and one became a projectile a while back and is held together with strategic zip ties.

I’ll sell you my front two. I’ve got the back ones still on the truck, and they say 4x4 anyway.

Yup, more than aware I could have taken them off, I did. I put them back on to cover the voids that are exposed after removing. Personally I think it’s a cleaner look. I am not/was not rubbing the flaps. I doubt I’ll rip these off with my light wheeling.

The reason for the short cut was to fill these voids while still basically removing the mud flaps all together. Mission accomplished!

I put bigger mudflaps on my truck  front and rear. You should see the rocks that get stuck in my tires.

I'm running proven design concepts flaps. Hard thick plastic, but flexible.

But when I was still stock/small lift with small tires, I did cut the stock flaps a couple inches.

4runners have smaller mudflaps from the factory. Will they fit Tacomas?
