So I'm trying to be proactive about this future problem. I got a 3" lift and my cv boots are rubbing, I've searched but can't find any definitive answers.
Are there high angle cv boots that would solve the wear at this angle for the future or am I doomed to lower the truck to 2.5"? I really enjoy the clearance I have on the truck so I'd love to find an alternate solution.

    Thanks.

That's the only potential problem I see as of now do that's good. Wish they weren't that hideous orange, but I suppose I'll try them out when mine come closer to wearing through.

I can't believe this was just posted. I discovered the same failure on the front right, inner CV-Joint while doing a tire rotation over the weekend. I, however, have a very small hole that just opened up. Not a lot of grease has escaped, so I am lucky I caught it just in time... I ended up wrapping tape around that bellow of the boot and shaft to prevent any grease from escaping and allowing any water or grit into the boot as a temporary fix.

Now here's my dilemma... What would be the best option? By the way, I also have a 3" lift on the truck and would prefer to not sacrifice the height.
    1. Keep the original CV joints and just replace the boots (Regular Boots or these High Angle Boots?)
    2. Purchase new, after market CV axles. If so, what brand?
    3. Purchase a good used OEM set from a junker that has low miles
Please vote and reply with suggestions...
Also, any other modifications out there that would help eliminate this from happening again in the future?

    Bone stock....but just got it!
Did you also do the front dif drop mod? That will improve your CV axle angle.

I thought with the diff drop you couldn't fit a diff skid on it..?

Do not buy aftermarket CVs. They're junk. The factory axles are best. Get high angle boots and swap them out. When you eventually need an axle buy a rebuilt factory one and use your old one as a core.

I bought my axles and high angle boots from CVJ.

Aftermarket axles here only cost around 100$ with core exchange. I'd just let them go and swap out axles as you see fit.

The OEM boot kit is around 170$ here.

I HATE HATE HATE the mess with CV boot repairs. Personally I'd just replace the shaft when it starts spraying, it's normal for 3" lifts to sweat a bit.

High angle boots are like $60. Swap them and don't worry about worn boots anymore. If you wheel, you'll spend more in the long run on cheap replacement axles. Ask @stairgod ...

That's my opinion anyway. Good luck with it OP

Makes sense especially if trails are common place. We just hate ordering stuff from the US up here right now. Even the EGCS Bushing has gone up in price.

No it won't. Not on a 2nd gen. It doesn't drop the diff. It rotates it.

I was told the same with the 2nd Gen, to stay away from the Diff. Drop. So I avoided that.

I really would like to keep the OEM CV Axles, I just have a hard time justifying the purchase of these High-Angle Boots for $54.95 per boot. When I can pay just a bit more for an aftermarket CV Axle. Are there any other "High-Angle" CV Boot companies out there that are cheaper, yet give the expected longevity? Any one have experiences with High-Angle CV Boots? Do they really work?

On the flip side, I found an aftermarket through Rock-Auto made by Cardone for $69.79 per axle. They are the heavy duty that are "Supplied w/Optional Heavy Duty Thermoplastic Outboard Boot". I was contemplating these...
    http://www.cardone.com/Products/Product-Detail?productId=665235HD&p=rock&jsn=433

I never heard of this company. Any one have experience with these Cardone CV Axles? Any other recommended CV Axle manufacturers out there?

Unfortunately, you have to pay to play. You should also research the ECGS bushing. With three inches of lift, your needle bearing will be next.

I used cardone on my 05 last year
Used them because they were rebuilt toyo axles
    Taco had 3' lift
Some people don't like cardone but it lasted me 10,000 before I sold truck with no problem
Didn't get the high angle boot because didn't know they made it

Holy mother of pearl.... 3' lift?
Has anyone bought the RCV axles to replace their original CV's?
I have been looking at replacing my front diff with a custom 8" High pinion from a land cruiser but would loose the ADD system. I would need manual locking hubs which I prefer anyways

Tacofish, appreciate the feedback. I looking to keep the truck for years and years. I put about 20k on my Taco per year. Mainly highway miles. I have some other feelers out there to try and figure out what option will be best: New after market CV Axles (similar to Cardone) OR replacement CV Boot Kit (High-angle or Silicone based). Thanks!
