hey so i have a 13 sienna minivan (currently 17k mi) and i just recently did my last "free" toyotacare service. However, my tires are completely bald on the outter edge of my front tires. i know its something i could have saw and reported, but since ive did the service every 5k mi up until the last one, could the dealer be held accountable for not recommending an alignment or new tires when they rotated them. they must have seen the wear because its bad, no way it could have worn down after the second to the last service. it must have been like that for awhile. if they would of told me to get an alignment i could have gotten more miles out of my tires. i mean the tires only have 17k mi on them, and its smooth on the outter edge of the front tires.

    am i SOL LOL!

So you noticed this and didn't say anything or do anything about it and now you want the dealer to be responsible? Am I understanding you correctly?

Could be a combination of alignment and too little air pressure

noticed it recently, by that time it was already smoothing out on the outter edge of the front tires. didnt think that i could lay blame on the dealer up until recently..maybe pro rate the tires. or maybe im just being an asshat. lol

You MIGHT be able to get prorated tires if you ask nicely, but they don't have to. You say 17k. Have the tires ever been rotated? In order to get prorated and live up to the mileage warranty, you need to have documentation of regular tire rotations.

Sounds like somebody drives into corners too hot, with low tire pressure.

Do you know for a fact it's an alignment problem? Have you attempted to address what you see as premature wear yet?

Why do you suspect alignment? Would the primary driver have hit something by chance? Maybe between the last 2 service visits.

Are the two front tires wore the same? How about the rear tires?

I don't see how you will get it past them...???

Looks like it. These minivans are not so "mini" anymore. They are big, heavy, with a high center of gravity and forward weight bias. The front tires and brakes tend to be very stressed.

No problems except that they couldnt rotate my tires because their hydraulic lift couldnt accomodate the truck lift.

Just so I understand, are you saying that each time you visited the dealership to use Toyota Care, they couldn't and failed to rotate your tires?

Maybe you should look at your tires every now and then.

If they said they can't rotate your tires, then you should've rotated them yourself.

I'm not seeing how this is the dealers fault, you're an adult, you know it needs an alignment from time to time. I'd tell you to kick rocks! You daily drive this thing. And even recommending you to replace them would still place fault on you. I assume you have kids, do you have to remind them to wipe their ass after they've been potty trained for a few years?

17k miles and fucked tires means there is major issues with your shit, that you SHOULD have noticed while driving. They aren't prorating shit unless you bought them from them and they are willing to take blame.

I think you need to suck this one up as a lesson learned and move on!

Calm down. I can see your point, but do you see mine? If i take my van to the dealer every 5k mi, dont you think they would catch the problem or foresee it since they are servicing it? What if im an 86 year old widowed lady, and doesnt know shit about cars and puts your trust in the dealer telling you if your car needs attention...
