Posting this here as it's kind of related, may be run with caps/shells etc.
    and universal to all models

anyone have the new Decked? Is it worth it?
    (or even last model)

anything else you had to do, to make it work well?
For example a softopper to contain cargo on top the Decked so it doesn't fall off the bedsides while driving

do folks typically just get the standard kit?
As opposed to the additional cost of their mats that go on top

In my opinion if you took everything you would pack in a Decked and then compare that to just putting it in a Plano case you'd find you're taking up a ton of real estate for a little storage. It also eats up the height of your bed.

The decked is great for guys that have a certain storage requirement and want to tie down a bike or atv or something. So it for sure has a use. I just think spending a G to store a limited amount of stuff isn't worth it.

Not worth it, you lose way too much storage space and bed depth with the Tacoma’s small beds.

I had Decked. I sold it though. I think it serves its purpose well, depending on the use. If you have no use for it other than occasional camping or a fishing trip or something like that, it isn't worth it. However, if you're some kind of repair/tool guy and use the truck for work or and need a way to lock all of it up, then Decked might be your thing. It's just a lot of weight and takes a considerable amount of bed height for occasional use if your tacoma is your daily driver. Not cheap either. Hope this helps!

If you are comfortable with basic wood working you could build your own platform. One of the pluses is if you build your own you can make it how ever you want.
This weekend I'm about to build a new one the material cost is around $300, should be just under 100lbs, and can be removed in seconds.

Picture of my current one I have, new one I'm building will better suit my needs. Slightly taller, a single wide drawer, and lighter weight

Build your own out of birch. Save tons of weight, and money.

I was considering a decked but didn't want to give up the height with my camper shell on. I just went to harbor freight and bought a couple of knock off pelican cases for various gear and use those depending on where I am headed and what I am doing.

I considered getting one a little over a year ago. I needed somewhere to keep my tools but didn't want to sacrifice the bed. After some thought I decided to buy Milwauke packouts instead. Whenever I need the entire bed space I can just fold down the rear seats and put them in the cab. Plus it was way cheaper than a decked system.

I have one, ordered the new one just after it came out; installed roughly April this year.

    2021 DCLB for reference

It depends on what you need it for. I had a wooden platform on the built in slots that suited my needs well enough for the 3 years I leased the truck. When I purchased the truck, I ordered the Decked system. For my wife and I, its awesome. When we camp we put all of our clothes in the drawer along with anything else that needs to be dry. More useful than camping though, is the fact that i can leave stuff in my truck all the time. Baseball season, we have all of our chairs, wagons, etc in the drawer 100% of the time. Included in the $1500 or so is a few hundred dollars worth of storage boxes, I wouldn't have ordered them myself but they are a solid add on. The Decked system is honestly a solid product, whether or not it it is worth it is up to you. I am confident it will last me years and it really saves me time when completing missions with my family of 4, lol. Need all the help I can get.

entirely use case dependent, so you need to ask yourself if you need lockable, out-of-sight out-of-mind storage for items like powertools, specific camping equipment, etc that might fit into a drawer system. You also need to consider the loss in bed depth

then also the matter of weight and cost of the system

i did the "Pask Makes" DIY bed drawer system years ago and it has been fantastic. Love being able to lock away my tools out of sight. Bed is still very usable in my use-case scenario, which includes a decent number of home depot trips. Last one was 5 sheets of 3/4" CDX and x2 16' 2x12's (pix on IG)

I threw a stall mat on top of it, cut to fit the bed. Had to pick up some wheels at Discount Tire and i opened the back of my SP to have the guy throw the wheels in. He just stood there for a bit not realizing that i even had a taller floor on the bed because the stall mat is black and hides things quite well to a casual observer.

Also if you DIY you can make adjustments to it in the future. For instance i wanted a house battery in the back so i cut one of my drawers short and mounted my DC to DC charger & 100AH battery in front of it. Works great!

I have one that I bought cheap on marketplace. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I'm the third owner for whatever that's worth.
The first owner used it without any kind of cover and the left and right top access covers got lost. They said it was a super tunnel car wash and there was a line so the couldn't shut it off to get them.
He also cut a very crudely access hole for the power plug on the right side. I would definitely do that if you get one. I keep a surge strip plugged in in that bin.
I have a topper, and the loss of height can be an issue.
I keep my OEM bedmat on top of it and it's serviceable.
My favorite thing about it is I can put things in the drawers and lock the tailgate and they are reasonably secure. It is fairly heavy but accounted for that with my lift.
I wish it were easier to remove by myself. Once a thin wire rod, part of a lantern stand, rolled under it and it was a pita to get out.
I certainly don't feel like it's terrible for $200 but it is also not a custom solution.
