Bought brand new 11 this weekend. Took in first thing monday am per pull to rihht, wheel not centered and vibration from 65 to 75 in wheel.

They centered steering and adjusted camber, toe etc.

    But still slight vibration.

Also, I've burned damn near half tank and only show 120 on odometer wc is like 12mpg. WTF? There something wrong here or are tacos stiff gas eaters until break in per 500/1000 miles?

Guess I'm heading back to dealership again...

I voted on the "Lunging or Jumping in RPM's" Because ever since I bought it new in 2006 it has lunged forward at stops. After the first few times, I just make sure my brakes are applied and don't let up until I'm ready to roll. Not a big deal, as I got used to it and can compensate for it. First time, I thought the guy behind me bumped my new truck. I almost went off on him. Still should not happen. It's a Toyota Transmission issue that they probably would not own up to.

I have the standard and there seems to be an RPM jump in between shifts as the clutch is being depressed. It seems there is a lag from the time the accelerator pedal is released and R's dropping. Either that, or I just suck at driving standard:confused:

BTW...your truck looks awesome, love the black on silver!!

    :threadjacked:Hijack off!

I find with my truck I have to shift really slow, or really fast. Seems like the transmission doesn't like normal shifting.

I had the same issue shorty after I bought my 05. When I stopped it felt like someone hit me. It was even worse when I had to stop hard. I took it to Toyota and they stated the tranny was low in fluid. It fixed my problem.

mine came with a free rear main leak. And I mean came with it. noticed it at 3000 miles and it was pretty wet, and its barely seeping. So was probably starting to leak on the dock. It sat for nearly a year since production. Figure that might have caused it.

Oh yea, and I don't know what "lunging" is, but I did have both in the truck I test drove, and mine for like 3 days, rpms that would bounce off idle every so often. It went away, probably a computer thing. First time it happened I pulled the battery cable, and it fixed it for a few days. Then it came back.. I left it alone and it went away.

Its not that you suck (probably, you could be lugging the engine and the RPMs bounce back from you forcing them down). Its drive by wire efi, coupled with mid size displacement truck engine and flywheel. It beats having to flutter the gas between shifts eh? Nothing to be done about it. It'll be there on almost everything. My last LS2 sports car did the same thing. My 1.5l toyota does the same thing. You're just noticing it for the first time.
I wanted my LS2 to "blip" like a race car.. everyone told me it couldn't happen. Too smooth/loose, and drive by wire won't allow it. Makes your engine burn poorly. You know, like that burp of black you see coming out of someone short shifting their car and flooring it.

The only thing I have noticed is the truck vibrates a bit at a stop in gear at idle....I don't consider that a problem. Just something different from my wife's RAV and my Honda Accord. (which I could not tell was running.)

My main complaint is the damned blower fan chirping on any speed other than high....Yeah yeah there is a thread showing me how to fix this but damn it the truck isn't even a year old! Other than that, I love my little Tacoma and I am so glad to be in a pickup truck(used to drive a little Kia) The only other thing that is wrong with my Tacoma is that it isn't paid for...but that's all up to me:)

I made my dealership replace mine 2 times under warranty. Now it is no longer under warranty, it is doing it again.

That sucks. And that's why I probably won't take mine in, I will try the how-to on this site to try to fix it....when it finally thaws out around here.

"Number and severity of "issues" are directly proportional to OCD of owner.

1 steel wheel center cap went missing with less than 500 mi. Center caps all have 6 molded pockets, but only 4 clips (The missing center cap is being replaced under warranty, but not without resistance).
2 rear mudflap push-pins fell out (replaced - no questions).

    6) No current issue. I've done the leaf-spring TSB and had some clunking type noise coming from under the hood... but after taking it to two different Toyota dealers, the second of the two knew of the problem and fixed it.

I love the truck. It's my third Toyota truck, had an 86 4x4, a 92 SR5 4x4 and now this one. All of them have been excellent trucks. Each one has had some issue... but then again, they are man-made mechanical objects and nothing is going to be perfect. Just as long as they are more reliable than Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.. I'm good.
