Butyl rubber. I would not use anything else. Very very easy to work with, both install and removal if you ever have to split again. Some hardware stores may carry it but not sure on the quality. Trs is top notch stuff for sure though. Usually you'll have more than enough with one roll.

I don't remember what temp or how long I baked mine after the butyl, but I think the suggested temp/time is a little too long myself. Maybe 5 minutes instead of 7. And don't clamp them down too tight thinking it'll help seal better after you bake them. Just light pressure while it cools. Might even be possible just to use good pressure and no heat if they're out in the hot weather for a bit. Probly for an hour or so, if that, should be good. I think I waited like 20 minutes before I took my clamps off, because I couldn't wait to get them back in, heh. But when I released the clamps, the rubber started to separate a little. Both because I didn't wait long enough, and because the channel and lens wasn't a perfect fit on my new aftermarket ones so it started to flex in some parts. If that happens just use a tiny bead of butyl IF it doesn't spooge out all around, and squeeze it in the cracks just for extra peace of mind. That doesn't mean use too much as in too thick of a bead though. It'll make a mess and create a big spooged bead on the inside If you use too much.. Good luck.

Who did you order them from? I want to make sure I don't order from that vendor on IG

I used a multitude of various clamps I had on hand. Like small c clamps and bar clamps. I have fairly big housings so it wasn't easy.

I used two big bar clamps like this to help hold light pressure on lens.

Then a few c clamps and vice grips around the edges. But you can use these if you have em or can get em cheap if you have nothing on hand. It doesn't take much. Like I said I think I put too much pressure on mine. Or I baked it a lil too long because the butyl got really soft.

100% moisture free if you follow it step by step, using with OEM housings. I've Been doing it for a few retrofits and no problems. I noticed you have aftermarket ones, hopefully it'll work with yours. Make sure you clean out the old butyl and I highly recommend retro rubber from TRS. And that vendor you're talking about, I had a few of his customers contact me. He's definitely not responding back or refusing to fix the problems like yours. Good luck!

You don't have to get all that old rubber out. Just the majority of the thick areas. And any around the edge. Some guys leave it there and fold over the extra back into the channel and reseal. So like I said you won't need a very thick bead of rubber in there. What's there previously will just help seal better. Not like it isn't gonna bond together with the new. The rubber/glue that was in mine was a different type and was a harder material. I made sure to get as much of that out of mine. But yours were already resealed with butyl by the looks of it.

You can warm it up and it'll be A LOT easier to get off.

Sad to see folks not backing up their work.
But like they mentioned above, the retrofit source sells the grey color butyl rubber, works great!
