unless you have super low gears and a crawl box you will probably want the auto for off roading. i dont need to hear the "i have more control off road with my stick" the difference is almost none, and its just simply easier to get over most obstacles with an auto controlling the clutch for you.

and yes, these threads are just copies of each other every single time lol.

The only suck I see is the bickering and getting away from the OP's question. I bought my Taco with the 6 speed manual..didn't want anything to do with the auto.I've had both types of drivetrain through the years, and have had not one issue with the manuals I've had. I plan on having this truck for a long time and so wanted the 6 speed.I had to go almost 300 miles to get the truck I wanted, but it was more than worth it for me.I say take some time and search to find what you want. Although it seems you're going to have to settle somewhere.Toyota doesn't think you need a longbed DC with a stick.

The exotic sports car makers are going to the high dollar high tech twin clutch systems with paddle shifters. They're F1 technology, and are insanely fast shifting units. Expensive and cutting edge yeah....as fun to drive for a purist ? Fawk no ! From a tech point of view...very cool stuff ! One clutch and shaft for 1st,3rd,and 5th . A second clutch and shaft for 2nd,4th,and 6th. In 1st gear accelerating the clutch and shafts for second are in place..hit the paddle and one clutch disengages while the other one engages. The shift time is measured in milliseconds.

    I recently purchased a 2012 double cab 6m/t tacoma so i know they're available.
I want to keep my truck for a long time so I went with the manual trans, no solenoids/sensors to worried about failing in the future or a leak from one of the many different seal/gaskets on the solenoids... I've work at different dealerships since 17 and automatics trans always had the oil leaks or some stupid solenoid that went bad so your vehicle acts crazy, but the newer stuff is looking better.

basically i went for simplicity on my drive train so i would be easier to maintain and what else is better than the proven toyota manual trans

    Huh?

In 4low and 1st gear I can get out and walk beside my truck.

I'm not sure what you're imagining "offroading" consists of, but most of it doesn't require a dedicated rock crawler.

    lol.

    No manual DCLB

The DCLB and all the AC have the same 6' box

    This, also
    4cyl: manual
    6cyl: auto

I like driving manual and it's worth it but there are more downsides to it. Were it geared differently I wouldn't have any qualms whatsoever, but its not, and I'm always happy until I hit the highway and my mileage is crap compared to city, not to mention my city mileage is crap compared to my last auto. . .

Damn, that's not good at all. What year was his? You got me a little worried now. Mine will be here in 3 months, maybe I should stick with an auto like my 05 was.

I've been driving the manuals for 5 years. Two different 6spd Tacomas (2007 and 2008) with zero issues. About to get my third next a month.

So I'm assuming your next one will be a 6 speed? I hope I don't have issues with the one I get.
