I went from a 11' DCLB to a 13' Access Cab TRD OR. A year ago when I traded to the Access Cab I planned on staying in the city. Now I am going to be going up north to work and now(sometimes) I wish that I had the DCLB. I have no complaints with the Access Cab, I just have to move things around and maximize the space that I have. I have a bit of wind noise coming from the back doors, rather than that it's great. Down the road I want to go back to a DCLB but I am not going to be trading in my Access Cab not even a year after getting it.

 

That's of course, depends on the person riding back there. When I chose to get a DC, coming from a GM background, I expected the back seat area to be a little more cramped than it is. But, I'm surprised how comfortable it is. I'm not a huge guy though. I'm thin and right at six feet tall. So, experiences may vary.. ha ha. The main passengers in my back seat are my 15 yo and 11 yo daughters, and they're both petite girls, so if it's comfy for me, I'm sure it's fine for them.

Being a firefighter, if my whole crew is on duty, with no one off on vacation, we take turns working details to other stations where someone may be off. So, with our shifts being 24hrs, I have a lot of crap to haul around with me. All my FF gear, plus my bedding, various uniform junk like raincoat if it's wet and water rescue junk. Not to mention the bag and my laptop I drag with me every shift. So, I can start to fill up the DC pretty quick, and the space it nice to have.

I've only had the truck for right at exactly one month, so I have not loaded up the family for something like a trip to the coast to see how it works out with all 4 of us and our junk, but I suspect it will be fine.

As for the never satisfied, it's part of life, you learn what you like and don't like etc. Sometimes that comes through trial and error. If you're a single guy, what might fit your needs now, may not in the future. But I would pass on that if you tend to keep your trucks a while, you may want to plan accordingly. If you like the DC now, it will still probably fit your needs when you have a family. I know I would hate to get my truck just how I want it, and have to get rid of it so I could move into something that is more family friendly later on.

Anyway, just a little ramble myself I guess. Hope you find what you're looking for. I think single or family guy, the DC is a great platform.

 

I love my DCSB. I rarely have people in the back seats but I ride dirt bikes a lot so its nice to have that extra room for my gear bag and what not.

 

I never really had anyone sit in the back when I had my double cab. I sat back there the odd time and I found it okay. It's not a Cadillac, it's a truck. Still more comfier then sitting in the back of an Access Cab.
