Device on Windshield

This device is on inside windshield on drivers side. Bought Taco 2/20/21, used. Google images no help. Has several white wires that run into A pillar. Nothing in owners manual. Probably a tracker to disable vehicle if stolen or up for repossession. Anyone know it's purpose? Thanks.

 

I'd say you're spot on with your assessment, but I can't find anything that looks like that either.

 

I suspect its a key pad to accept a code to unlock the Driver's door or enable the FOB system or some other circuit.

Looks like a PO add-on.

 

I was thinking it looked like an aftermarket keyless entry via keypad, kinda like Ford's been doing for years.

 

I've never seen anything like it. With that said, I would venture a guess that it is to unlock your doors via programmable code (much like you used to see on some Ford's driver side doors.

 

In NJ when you find a "device" this is what happens...

Pretty cool, I've always liked this feature on Ford's. I'd be curious how much it costs, if it can be bought and easily installed at home, and what years were compatible.

 

Just a keyless entry pad. They are nice to have because you can then lock your keys in the car and go do stuff, then come back and unlock the truck and be on your way.

You're missing the point, obviously.

 

To be able to lock you keys inside the vehicle? Like if you go jogging, to the beach, hiking, etc.

 

As long as you are good at remembering codes, some of the Ford vehicles automatically locked themselves after a short time which was sometimes inconvenient

 

It's removal would have been a pre-requisite to the purchase for me.
