Found one of the two-way powerstations locally on FB marketplace for $150 and already had 3 flexvolt batteries. Got another 9AH on an Amazon sale and I now have a TV setup for tailgate season. Got 7+hours of runtime with the 6AH flexvolt as the 4th battery, then another 2+ hrs when swapping in a regular 4AH 20v.

 

Yes and all 12v batteries are actually only 10.8v even though every manufacturer calls them 12v. It’s sorta bizarre that Dewalt gets so much flack for this considering everyone is playing this game on their 12v batteries.

Anybody have one of Dewalts cordless vacs, and are they worth it?

 

I have the older 20VMax rectangular model. KINDA Weak.

Good for very light stuff away from an outlet.

I have the DCV581H and it sucks. By which I mean, it’s really really really great. It has a cord, but I rarely have to use it. It’ll do wet, but you kinda want to have a new and clean filter for that so you don’t get a wet crusty goo on the filter you’re using for normal stuff.

Honestly, this thing is super convenient to just grab and go. If it broke, I’d replace it tomorrow.

The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t come with a soft brush, and when you buy one, there’s nowhere onboard to store it.

I THINK mine is the 580 20V only. No cord. I mean mine works OK, maybe my expectations are too high!

 

Hmmm. Not sure what to say. Have you got a clean-ish filter in it? (Mine needs a thumping every so often.) Is the hose clear? (No joke, I’ve filled the hose with crap a few times then wondered why it didn’t suck.)

 

I have the DCV581H, the DCV501H, and the DCV517. The 517 is okay for dust and light duty, but doesn't suck that great. The 581 is alright, much better with a 6Ah battery and a clean filter. The 501 works surprising well. It is for dry pick up only, but it does a good job.

 

OK I am going to back off on my initial answer.

I was going by my memory and being way too harsh.

Just now I went out to the shop with a freshly charged 5AH XR battery, found the DCV580 (built in 2014 which oddly can take the old 18V batteries) and knocked the filter off, and blew the hose out. It's not that bad. Yes compared to a 120V shop vac, sure it's not great but it picks up sawdust and other debris just fine and the vacuum pulls better than I remember.

 

Question.

Anyone ever thought of a corded adapter to run 20VMax on 120V line?

But too expensive and the reviews are terrible.

Kinda serious for shop work, novelty value, etc but $99?? And maybe doesn't work with some tools? WTF?

I have this little guy. I love it. Great for light stuff and I love it for detailing my truck interior.

Anyone have a lead on the DeWalt PEX expander tool?

 

I am a DEWALT brand fan. However, for a Wet/Dry utility vac I went with the Hoover ONEPWR Cordless High-Capacity Wet/Dry Utility Vacuum and the ONEPWR Cordless High Performance Blower. Both have been very good and I can swap the batteries between those and the ONEPWR vehicle vacuum I purchased.

I have had my DEWALT corded, variable-speed, drill for 20+yrs along with various drill bits and screwdriver sets. I have the MAX cordless screwdriver for use around the house.
