I’m going through this same scenario. Every Mobil 1 75w-90 has the LS additive. There doesn’t seem to be another option so do I just go with that? I would like to stick with Mobil 1.

Update. Just called Mobil and they have no recommendations from their product line to suite our truck. I did see the option for the regular 75w-90 which is the delvac - part number 122044. I just called them to ask about the one without the additives and figured I’d ask if it’s suitable for the truck to see what they say.

I use Lucas 85/140 in the rear…has lowered temps. I can see people shaking their heads now. I also run 0W30 or 40 as recommended by Kendall Toyota in Anchorage. I’m on a 9 month trip with lots off off-road so this may not apply to all. When it gets colder rear goes back to 75/90. I’ve got about 300 lbs of gear in the back plus 25 gals of backup gas. It runs quieter and the whine is all but gone.

I’ve been in 4 low a shit ton in Canada and Alaska. Dealer recommended a heavier viscosity engine oil as recommended in the manual. The heavier oil has shown no difference in performance in the engine. I lost maybe .4 mpg as I have calculated since switching in late May in anchorage. That’s averaged over every tank for the last 4 oil changes since then.

just 80w90 conventional supertech until i can get some good synthetic. had my rear diff replaced 800 miles ago. probably ravenol or that Eurol stuf since it's on sale at Blauparts right now and they have 75w85 weights. all the local stuff was overpriced or only had 1 quart left on the shelves.

also, probably have a bad needle bearing in front diff that is binding when hot, so that may be part of it. getting ECGS bushing installed today by a local 4x4 shop. stock truck, but had a collision on front left wheel a few months back that may have damaged the needle bearing.

if they can't fix this issue, after 6 shop visits, might be thinking about trading it in. not worth the stress.

I run Amsoil in mine, but I did not want to add more confusion to this topic. But at $18. per quart, the Delvec is very good stuff.

I have not because I read on BITOG that Ravenol has a very poor additives package.

Thanks to everyone for the info on changing the fluids. I do want to add that at least on my 2020 TRD sport, the rear differential crush washers were the same for fill and drain plugs (12157-10010). I bought the 90430-24017 and it's too large.

Attached is a photo of them for reference:

PS. Flexfill from Valvoline is a great, no mess! Also, taking out the spare helps a ton if you're not lifted :)
