Stage 4 installed and riding rough. Tried searches but could not find info on if they soften up or mellow out with time. Hopefully they do, other than lower the preset height, what else can be done?

Springs may settle a little but if they're built right (e.g. scragged from the factory) they shouldn't change much. There might be a short time where the shock seals will loosen a bit, too. Mostly though, no, not really.

Sounds like the spring rate is too high or the shock valving or oil weight is wrong for your truck.

Do you know what spring rate you have? It may be too high.

Also, my Icons rode really rough and I was really unhappy with them until I blasted through a set of whoops pretty fast and since then they've rode great! Maybe they do have a break in period. I bought mine used, so not too sure how they rode brand new.

You could replace them with a progressive shock....Fox or Kings. The Icons are digressive so they are going to be firmer at slow speeds.

If you have a lot of preload try to back it off and see if the ride is better. If the ride is better and you want the lift back look into replacing the springs. If the ride isn't better and you want to keep the Icons you'll need to find a shop that can revalve them.

Interesting. My experience is FOX and the ride quality has never changed, although the ride height settled such that I had to put a couple of turns in to compensate. I eventually had to go up in spring rate because they were too soft for all the junk I have bolted to the front.

The coilovers are brand new with 650 lb springs.

Hopefully it's something I can get used too. I've read they can be stiff and I figure this helps with body roll and such but I wasn't expecting it to be that bad. Crazy that Icon hasn't addressed this as it seems to be the #1 issue most people have.

Is that is the Icon digressiveness?
What is your truck set up with? I run 14", 650 lb/in springs on FOX 2.5" non-reservoirs and stock tune with an ARB, winch w/ synthetic line, a 3/16" skid and dual batteries and find the ride is really nice. My coil overs came with 13", 600 lb/in springs from FOX and that was right on for just an ARB and none of the other stuff.

^^^ this, they definitely feel smoother to me when I'm offroad at speed.

Hmmmm. I wonder if Icon has a 600 lb coil? Seems like they should.
