I have 2019 Tacoma trd off road, I've just noticed that my rear running lights, license plate light are coming on during drl operation. I thought that during the drl operation only the drls are suppose to be on? In my case
During the drl operation my rear running lights are on. This isn't a huge problem but it does bother me. I have just got the truck back from the dealership after they swapped the short block, only reason I haven't brought it back to them is I can't recall if it was doing this prior to me getting work done or after they did work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, In DRL operation ONLY the DRL should be on. When you go to parking light position should the rear lights, license and parking lights come on.

Ok that is what I thought. Now with that being said would you know where to start looking? I have already checked both the fuse and relay for the drl. Although the relay for for the drl could stick on? When I switch the selector to off the rear running light and license lights and drl turn off, so it looks like it isn't a short but either a wire getting power when it shouldn't be or or the relay is stuck?

Yeah, it's getting power somehow in the DRL position.

I'm not sure where to look for this. It's the wiring engaging power in the wrong position. Hard to say when you just noticed it if this is how it's been from day one or not? Maybe the DRL setting got missed in the wiring. Do your headlights come on in the parking position, like the functions skipped a step of the DRL function - if that makes sense?

No it's something new that just started. I just don't know if it started after I got the truck back this past Saturday or it was doing before I dropped it off over 2 month ago. I am certain that it wasn't like this from day one and that's why I noticed it. Also yes i understand what you are saying, and don't believe it skipped a setting.
Maybe I'll start with the relay?
