Let me start by saying this is a pointless and uneccesary mod idea. Probably a waste of money(possibly coolest waste of money) and will probably add a bit of back pressure..

I love the sound of the FM44's but it's a bit too loud for my liking on a DD. So I currently run an 18" magnaflow single out with the pipe cut just over the axle. So after recently having driven the Jaguar F-Type with dual mode exhaust I got to thinking.

My idea is to weld a y pipe a ways before my MF with 3 bolt flanges on the dual end. From there mount a dual set of electronic cutouts. Both wired on the same rocker switch, I flip it and one opens as the other closes. Then as you can guess
Another set of 3 bolt flanges to the piping. The piping to the mufflers, and given that I can make room for both mufflers to go about this anyways, have the single out of the new FM run right next to my current chopped pipe.

Overall cost would be $550-600 with parts and labor considering I already have the MF on and would run the wires myself.

    Opinions ?

Was very close to ordering the stuff today and having it done by Sunday but I think I need a sanity check first :)

If you read above I mention exhaust cutouts. I don't want to run it straight through.

Jaguar has a switch. I'd rather be able to switch it over myself than automatically.

Very cool muffler. Haven't seen it before. But not what I'm looking for. Thank you for the input though. Looking to be able to switch between two different sounds when I want to.

So let me get this straight

Switch up is quiet muffler for daily driving
Switch down is a second muffler for vroom vroom

Instead of 2 seperate cutouts how bout just 1 to a louder more flowing mufffller you should get the same idea you're after without the extra cost

Pretty similar to the camaro or corvette dual mode exhaust still muffled but less restrictive

Yeah that's the idea. But if I ran only one I can either have it going through one or both not one or the other. Would there be an issue running two mufflers after a y pipe?

Can't imagine any. Here in NC, exhaust cutout devices are illegal, though you "hear" them all the time. There isn't a rule against going with a Y pipe and duals though, so a valve that switches between a quiet and a loud muffler with out leaks should be as legal as an H pipe.
