So I've been having some electrical gremlins for a while now and would appreciate some help. My tail lamp fuse has been blowing for some time now. It only blows occasionally and I notice it tends to happen when I use the e brake. Recently, on top of this I have noticed the backlighting is gone from my door lock, mirror adjust, downhill assist and inverter buttons. Other buttons such as fog lights, diff lock etc are still back lit. I'm assuming I have a short somewhere (most likely due to rodents) but am not sure where exactly to look. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that the " door lock, mirror adjust, downhill assist and inverter buttons" were ever back lighted.

I know that my 2012 the door lock and mirror adjust are not back lighted and never have been.

I cannot say about the Downhill Assist or Inverter buttons as I do not have those.

Parking brake isn't in the Tail Light Circuit.

10 Amp Fuse --- Front R / L Park Lamps, R / L Tail Lamps and R / L License Plate Lamps. Then the associated wiring and Relay. The combination switch is in a parallel circuit and will not blow the tail fuse.

Ya I think you're right, I'm probably imagining the backlighting. Guess I panic posted after the 7th blown fuse haha. Anyways I realize the e brake is not in the tail circuit but engaging or disengaging it seems to be the only time the tail fuse blows. Is it possible the e brake is making contact with a wire somewhere? Maybe I'm kicking a wire whilst engaging it?

Do you have an aftermarket trailer hitch? If so, look at how the trailer plug is connected to your wiring harness.

No, hitch and wiring are oem. Hitch was replaced recently due to an accident but the issue was going on before that. I do have aftermarket tail lights but they are not a recent addition and have worked flawlessly for a long while before I started blowing fuses.
