Not sure if this is the right place to post for my old truck but here goes. Driving home in my 88 22re 2wd auto pickup and had some strange electrical problems, the charging light was coming on along with the brake light in the dash, I notice this happening when the revs were higher like when you take it out of overdrive or turn the heater fan off, put it back in overdrive and they go out again, revving the engine they come back on again, it's running over 13 volts while driving but when I switch the driving lights on the volt guage flies over to zero then back to 13+. turn the engine off at home, try starting no dash lights no start, put trans in neutral same thing, put back into park, keep trying the key until the dash lights come back on engine starts up, now it's back to normal but I wanted to get ahead of this thing and look into what's going on and what parts it might need, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
How old is the battery. Have you checked the battery terminals, tightness and clean? Check the cables, they can get corroded beyond the clamps. Check your grounds.

It could be the alternator starting to take a sh$t, but I'd start with the obvious first.

Thanks OldSchlPunk I'll check it, it's got a healthy Johnson Controls battery I swap it out annually when I put the car on the road in summer, alternator is probably oem, truck has 93.000 miles/150.000 km

    Good morning,
Hello Taco lovers I am currently having a major electrical issue with my 2013 off-road with 240000 mile. My dash lights came on , all climate controls went dead, mirror went dead but everything else was working so drove straight to my shop. Soon as I got there shut it off and restarted it with a very weak start. So at this point figure the alternator was done. We replaced the my alternator and it fried out with in a hour replaced and now the blowing 10 am fuse I'm under the dash. My mechanic is looking to through the the wire harness from alt to starter not seeing any bad wires etc. looking for any advice.
Don't want to bring to the dealership
    Thank you all
    Jon

Hi Jon, you're probably better off making a new post for newer vehicles, my truck is a 1988.

I have an update, after all the weird malfunctions the truck is right back to normal again, turning the key on shows the usual dash lights, truck starts right up run perfect, next summer when it's off the road it's getting a new alternator, if the old one hangs in there I'll keep it as a spare.
