Electrical Question

Here is my rough guess.

Yea relays are 4 or 5 pins, he's missing one.

 

The Hi/Lo/Ign +12v is so that your lights can only be turned on when the key is in and ON. If you want to be able to turn them on with the key out they you should run that wire to a constant +12v ie the battery.

Blakes09 has a better diagram. OP, yours is missing in-line fuses and grounds.

If I were you, I'd use an add-a-circuit to power your switch. Put the add-a-circuit on a fuse that's only hot when the ignition is hot, that way you can't accidentally leave the lights on when you turn the truck off.

Get the relay at any auto parts store. Just make sure the relay is large enough to handle the amount of power you want to put through it. You said a couple hundred watts, that's a lot of juice! Most relays are rated to 30A. 200W = 17Amps for reference. That should help you size the fuse also. You only want to use a fuse that's just large enough for the load.

Watts = Volts x Amps
Watts = 12V x Amps
Watts/12 = Amps
