as for the rem 870 and the moss 500 you cant go wrong! there are so many aftermarket options, you could go from a turkey gun to a tactical entry gun very easily. :infantry:

I haven't a clue, so will say none.
You said entry level. Mossberg 88 is about as entry level as you can get and still have a good pump shotgun. There are single shot break overs that are less expensive if you can deal with those.

Of course the 870 and 500 pumps are close to as good as it gets for mid priced.

For a defender type, look at the Moss 500 over the Win 1300. The Win 1300 can be a bugger to tear down to clean. Several of the deputies are selling their 1300's after the range officer made them tear them down after one of the qualifying shoots.

Hands down on the Rem 870, also, the 870 was my first shotgun. Now to date, I have 21 of various models and makes. The 870 is my favorite for pheasants. Plus, I don't have to worry about scratching it out in the field as I do on my other guns.

I have 2 of these, a 20 ga and a 12 ga. they have never let me down. neither of them have ever even jammed and i have ran plenty of shells through them. now the 12 is my bird gun and the 12 is for deer since i cant use a rifle in my area (it sucks).
