Anyone have issues with their head unit updating software that's not compatible for the head unit? I started my 2016 that has the Entune Premium head unit, and I noticed the clock was missing. My saved contacts were gone from their saved positions on the home screen, and the map orientation had changed. I also noticed my ECO app trips and fuel economy were erased. A message popped up stating: "New software is not compatible with the system." There was then a prompt to do a new software update, so I figured it would resolve the issues. Nothing changed. The touch screen also doesn't work on the upper and lower portions.

It seems like it updated to a different head unit's system. What's weird is it happened between turning the truck off and restarting it. There was never any notification that there was an update to be performed. The manual also has no information on my error code, so I'm interested to see what's up.

Given that this is the first search result that comes up in google when searching this issue, I'll share my issue with what may be a solution for some. It is not as extreme as the OP's with a disconnected wire but I was also having an issue with a somewhat persistent "acquiring time from GPS" message. I was able to desync and set time manually but my brain wouldn't let it go as I wanted to resolve it.

Rebooting didn't work nor did deactivating and reactivating GPS time in the menu.

I went to the hidden diagnostic screen via the audio button (turn on truck but do not start engine (2press for PTS tacos w/out touching the brake) - Once head unit has started up, hold down the audio button on the screen while turning the headlights on and off 3 times and the screen will come up.)

Also, no errors were showing on the error screen unlike the OPs post above.

In there I was able to navigate to a sensor check screen. In there was some info on the gps. In there I noticed that the time showing for the GPS was way off. I did this at about 720am and it was showing 2 something PM. On that screen is an option to manually set the time which from there the GPS will assist or take precedence. I went to time.gov on my phone and set the time as close as possible to the atomic time and exited the menu. I turned off the truck and restarted, set the clock setting back to GPS and it came right up.

seems like it may have been a desynch glitch were the time feed was messing up

I need to drive a bit more to confirm if the fix is lasting but at least for this occasion it worked. If it recurs I'll probably go back to manual time.

edit, two trips so far and the clock is working fine with GPS feeding time properly.

This thread was a godsend. It's important to note that the main wiring harness contains all but this one connection (at least on my 2017 Limited) and it had simply fallen below where I could fish around for it.

Sorry in advance for the awful photos but I figure they'll help somebody.
