Do you have the Entune app installed on your phone? If so, did your head unit go through an update process when you first got it? I also picked up my truck last week. I remember right after I enstalled Entune on my phone, my head unit did a software update that took a little while to complete. Mine still restarted today, but this is the first time I've had the issue. Just curious if you saw yours do a software update at some point after you picked it up.

Good luck with the new unit, hopefully that will be the end of your issues. I'll post back if mine keeps acting up, I'm going to chalk up today's experience to poor cell reception and the entune software rebooting rather than just skipping or reporting loss of signal when the stream went away (purely speculating that's what happened). It certainly should not reboot because of a loss of signal.

Yes, I went through the Entune update but it didn't help. I am convinced there is a bad component in my unit. I don't think it's a software issue, but time will tell.

I think the correlation is in the cell phone reception. I think when it has a crappy signal (like when its raining or heavily overcast), that the toyota software doesn't do a good job of riding through loss of reception. My guess is that when it loses it's data stream it creates some sort of fatal code error, forcing the reboot. Leads me to believe the guys in poor reception areas may see this problem more often.

I could be wrong, but I've debugged my fair share of electronics in my day and from what I've seen that seems to make the most sense.

What case or adapter are you using for your 6s+? I have tried 2 with no luck! Thanks! (Sorry, a bit off topic!)

It's been about 1.5 months since mine did it, but it reset to the point of losing all of my EQ settings and GPS/Voice settings, but not any of my FM/XM memory settings. It rebooted two or three times while my 6s+ was connected.

Also, when it first happened that day, it started when I hit "Continue" on the boot up screen with the warning about using it while driving... I updated it when I first got my truck, think I was still sitting at the Dealership when I got it onto the full version.

Mine rebooted a couple of times so far. One time it completely lost the voice training. I had to go through the whole procedure again

I was finally able to get my head unit replaced this weekend. For reference, it's model #510103 (printed on lower right of radio face below tuner knob). The new unit has not reset/rebooted at all. I am convinced there is a bad batch of these units floating around since my new one has the same software version as the old one. If you are having issues, I recommend talking to your dealer and having them replace it. If they won't, call Toyota and open a case. I opened a case for mine and they were very helpful and responsive.

I just started having some reboots yesterday after about a month of ownership. Mine has nav and the reverse camera. I think my issue has something to do with the reverse camera. The unit works fine untill I go into reverse and go back to drive. Then it will start rebooting. Ive found that if I shift it back to reverse and D again, it will correct its self. Its only happened twice over many short trips, but its also twice in two days, so Ill be watching out for it.

I have had my truck since November and have had several software updates, one of which was a few days ago. I have my iPhone 6 connected via bluetooth with the Entune app activated listening to iHeartRadio and it reboot 5 or 6 times during my 30min commute to work. It was raining fairly hard the whole way. Switching to FM did not solve the issue. I finally killed the Entune App running on my iPhone and it seemed to stop. If it continues happening though, I will be taking it back to dealer.

So after reading this thread, we all seem to have this issue with the head unit either freezing up, rebooting, or being unresponsive. My taco is a 2nd generation. I have the entune with no Nav but still have the same issues. Rebooting or being unresponsive. And btw, I'm using my iPhone 6 with the latest update. So i shrugged off the last few reboots until last week. I took my taco to the dealer and spoke to my service rep who I have been dealing with for pretty much 2 years since i got my taco (2014 SR5 Pre). Super honest guy. He told me he would see if it needs an update and apparently it did. Seemed to work but its only been a week so far. Normally something like this from the dealer costs like something of $125, but he only charged me $37. Sweet deal!

Anyways, I think we should all open up cases against Toyota for this problem because honestly we shouldn't have to deal with this. Especially after forking out so much $$$$ on just the truck itself.

Has anyone tried looking for the update online? I think updates should be available to us free of charge.

Mine has reset 2 or 3 times in the past month. Every time, it was right after I started the vehicle and the weather was overcast.

Mine just started this shit today after I've already put 13k miles on the truck. When I bought the truck, I had a Samsung Galaxy s6, and today got a new s6.. so same phone, but never had this issue with my last s6. Heading to the dealer first thing in the am.

Mine did it a couple of times a week or so ago, but hasnt had a problem since. Im not sure going to the dealer will do any good if the problem cant be shown to them. And even then its a software issue. Unless there is an update they wont be able to do anything. But, to each his own.

As I said before, I have a reverse camera. So I got the reboot loop to stop by shifting into reverse and back, forcing the screen to show the reverse camera. Im not sure if that really stopped the reboot loop or if it was just coincidence. But it fixed it twice.

So my radio reset about half a dozen times today on my drive to and from lunch. This time I was listening to HD radio so not streaming from the phone at all. Again, it was raining. I've had it lose reception without restarting so I'm not sure what the rain has to do with things (if anything). Unless maybe there is a harness that is getting wet causing some kind of short? I don't know. I'm not going to bring it in yet for this specifically, but will definitely bring it up when I bring it in for the first service.

This happened to me for the first time today - at almost 12,000 miles - twice in a 20-minute drive. It was raining and is very humid today.

Mine has gotten into the continual reboot cycle a few times. I offer the following observations:
    1. it has always happened immediately at startup, before completing the first boot/start cycle. It has never happened "out of the blue" while driving.
    2. Yesterday it happened while I was fiddling with the Entune App during startup (getting Pandora going). Don't know if I was monkeying with it the other few times I had the rebooting issue...
other than that, no real issues. Hope you all get it solved.
