ESC With/Without LSD?

I've looked online and the explanations don't cut it. Can someone clue me in on what the difference is between a vehicle with ESC and a vehicle with ESC and auto LSD? The explanations I've read don't really show a difference. So when you shut off ESC and the LSD light comes on what is happening differently from shutting off ESC in a vehicle that doesn't have LSD? I know shutting off ESC allows the drive wheel to spin without the computer applying braking and dropping power. So if you also have auto LSD what else happens?
