Exhaust replacement

I am replacing the bolt on exhaust system for my 96 single cab 4x4 5spd 2.7

im looking to order thru rockauto.com but not totally what will work best for my truck?

Do yourself a favor and buy the OEM exhaust from the dealer. The aftermarket stuff is largely crap and will only last a few years.

 

I’ve had yet to find a really nice exhaust setup I like for these trucks. I had a cherry bomb before, now I have a dynomax ultraflow, and a cutout installed just before the muffler. Without it running though the cutout its extremely quiet, but I see a lot of improvement over throttle response and how well it pulls on the top end. Aftermarket exhausts are definitely worth the gamble you just have to find one that’s works for you and that you like

 

I've gone thru lots of different exhaust over the last 20 years for our Tacoma's.

I just installed this one on my 04. I know you have the 2.7, but if there is a version for it, I would endorse it completely. It has a little more "throughty" sound but not like a "ricer".

I just re read the add, it fits the 2.7, too.

 

Note: it does not come with flange gaskit. I paid $3 at AutoZone.

 

I use Walker SS Quietflow mufflers, as that part seems to go first due to moisture collection. I had the OEM last about 7 years and the Walkers seem to last around 3-4 so for 1/4 the $$ I'll take replacing at 50%. I just replaced the 2nd CAT and mid-pipe due to rust out of the pipe itself. we'll see how emissions fair this summer now that it's registered in Allegheny

 

Anymore I use Walker Exhaust it bolts on no problems with the fit.

You used to be able to get them any wherein the USA in a few days.

Now it takes freight weeks to move a few miles.

3.4 v6 in mine.
The original factory on mine is getting close to end of life.
Is the topic a coincidence, as I was at the muffler shop today.
With the lifespan I got from the OEM, I'm strongly for a second round of the same.
Of course, anymore, I'm sure material quality has changed.
