Fallout 4

A mod or something?

I hit the limit pretty fast with the castle. I'd love to get around the 'limit' as I don't have some candy-assed console with 2048 RAM or whatever that weaksauce punk hardware is they cram in there. I could run the entire game with the horsepower just on my GPU. I don't need limits.

 

8 GB in modern consoles. Nice try. I get what you are saying but I don't think the limit was in there just because of the consoles. It probably had more to do with the base PC specifications to be honest.

There must be a million mods to get past that limit by now on PC. Console/Mod that shit up!

Edit: My current PC only has 2 GB of Ram ... on the video card.

Nice try what? 8GB is what my GPU has, not what the entire console has. I have more *PU speed and as much RAM on my GPU as the whole console does. That's not a try, that's a cold hard hardware fact.

But yea, to the point of my question, I assume Nexus has mods up for it by now? I should get off my butt and go look...

 

Oh I get you, I wasn't trying to start the whole PC master race argument . Just 2 GB is a little low that's all. I would assume though that the lowest end "candy ass" PC specification is worse than the custom software design for the 8 GB video card in a box with some other crap console. That's usually how it goes.

Ask initial Crysis sales how designing a game only for the top graphics cards works out...

 

Heh. Crysis ran at 40-60 FPS on my rig at release. But I'm an outlier with my gaming machines, and I know it Loved that game!

I guess I was a little harsh, but the point stands. The teeny limits on hardware and expandability are generally a HUGE hit to fit a console rather than a PC. Same with controller/UI design. And I fuckin' HATE it.

I understand, Bethesda wants to sell as many boxes as possible. I love their stuff and will support them. But the shit-tastic menuing system and inventory UI they shat upon our faces so they could do console releases is BAD. And as long as I keep paying full price for their releases, I'll continue to make sure they know it.

 

Some of us can't afford the new rig every year at $1K per video card .

Yea, I know, like I said, I know I'm an outlier. It just really sucks that the limits placed on a game, so you can run it on a 2GB GTX 680 constrain what I can build with my monstrosity gaming rig.

It shouldn't be that way. It doesn't HAVE to be that way.

 

Nope, but it's easy and cheap to do it that way.

BTW I'm sure even my 2 GB 680 can more than handle Fallout 4 if I wanted it too. I can run Skyrim with all the pretty mods and extra textures maxed out no problem.

BTW here's the posted spec needed for Fallout:

NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent.

The 550 Ti is pretty lame... I'm guessing even lamer than the console limits imposed by the Jaguar architecture.

The minimum PC system requirements for Fallout 4 is 8GB of ram on top of the GFX ram.

The settlement build limits are most definitely in place because of console system lag.
