I upgraded him with my perks. Now he can tackle people and pin them for me to kill. Really useful for ghouls when you awaken a horde and he pins 2 of them for you to deal with later.

He can drag enemies too now. Every now and then it says "dogmeat found an enemy." Yesterday he dragged a raider to me lol.

I ended up fighting against the brotherhood on my first play through and I would just cycle out pieces that are broken when I killed Knights. Power armor breaking down like that really sucks.

I just completed the main quest, I think, yesterday. I only say that because this game has wrap up missions with whoever you side with so calling it complete is not totally correct.

Anyways I'm level 36. I use the standard BOS combat armor with the special helmet and chest plate you can get for playing their missions. With some armorer customization it's easy to eek out 80ish armor points out of that setup. I carry a set of clothes with high charisma too just in case I need to post 9 charisma points to win someone over to my side of an argument. When I know I'm going to do a tougher mission or one with lots of rads I use the T60D power armor. I find the power armor fine in this game, it's implemented really well IMHO. It's not even armor in my opinion, it's really more of a vehicle (consumes fuel, hauls more crap, and takes it's own damage) that you can use as your own personal tank. I can see why someone who likes to just play without worrying about their armor would not use it but for main line quests, exploring the glowing sea, or bumping into sentry bots the power armor makes a huge difference. I also have the auto stimpack option on my torso, which is great for those tough fights when I want to just play it out instead of pausing all the time for HP regen via the pipboy. I wore it for most of the last few missions, but I'll be parking my well upgraded set until I need it for now. Got to conserve that precious power armor fuel :).

As for companions, they all work for me. Dogmeat is okay but against any hard enemies he goes down like a sack of bricks almost immediately so I'm not thrilled with him. Then again he's one of the few companions that none of the factions comment about annoyingly so for just that reason I use him a lot. Valentine does really well IMHO, but since I did the BOS side of the story this play through it was always annoying to have him around any BOS NPC's. I used Danse for a while too, I personally preferred him overall. I never used Strong and don't know where da fack he ended up after the tower mission. I've never used Cogsworth either.

I played up to about level 26 or 28, got most of the 'facepalm learning moments' out of the way, and restarted.

Now I'm getting up near 20 again. Haven't even gone to Diamond City yet on this runthrough. Base building and getting the perks I like...gonna get settlers and supply lines all done, THEN go forward with the storyline.

I rarely use the power armor, honestly. I have 3 or 4 chassis at Sanctuary (one fully modded up to the C variant) that I pull out for bosses or big clearouts, otherwise it's just me and Dogmeat. Whom I love as my travelling/adventuring companion simply because he's immortal. I love sending him in to hit a suicider still in the middle of a mutant base :)

Modded .50 sniper builds FTMFW, yo

I am Level 16 and wear polished metal armor with a total value of 75

my weapons still suck but I'm working on the Gun Nut perk for my next upgrade

I got the Local Leader 2 and Cap Collector 1 perks now so my Starlight Theatre settlement now has shops as well as the 4 water purifiers in the central pond

Strong is a tank, no doubt about that. Probably the best for combat. I personally either use Nick or Cait the most, give either of them a decent gun and they're pretty good, not to mention Cait likes lockpicking and stealing if that's your play style, and she's got a good quest if you keep her for a while. Curie is alright but she'll run up to a suicider and start punching it so not the smartest. And I agree, seems strange the toughest armor in the game is the only one that breaks. Fully upgraded silver shroud armor is 80+ damage resist if I remember right.

Yeah, I have 4 chassis. Though if someone stole my modded armor with all the hours and parts I've put into it I'd flip.

Good thing Sanctuary may as well be Fort Knox at this point. It's getting to the point where I almost have turrets stacked on my turrets.

I used him until level 12 or so, he started to step on land mines constantly and blowing my legs off in the process. Also loved it when I'd crouch to get a long shot and he would walk right in front of my scope almost every time. Also his barking alerted so many enemies I just said screw it and got Nick.

Pull the fusion cores from your chassis that aren't in active use. That way nobody can use them but you.

It's your rifle perks. I have my rifle perk up to level 4 and I can one shot most base enemies with the Assault Rifle and Laser Rifle now.

The non auto rifle perks are great, I use the .45 sniper rifle with glow sights as my primary gun. 92 damage per shot. My actual sniper is Reba II, .50 cal that does 138 damage per shot and +50% dam on mirelurks and bugs. Great for blood bugs haha.

Do settlers on trade connections count against local populations?

Meaning: If pop limit is 10 + CHA (16 for me), and I have 16 settlers in Sanctuary, if I assign one to become a connection to Starlight DriveIn, does my Sanctuary population drop to 15, and in time I'll get another 16th?

Also, does that settler add to the local pop of Starlight at that point? Or are they in limbo as far as pop caps per settlement go?

My game has been buggy as hell since I started. Swimming on land, gun turning invisible, pip boy won't come up, enemies floating and stuck in the ground constantly, and maybe its just me but I can be point blank with a sniper and miss every shot if I hip fire. I wonder if I even got the day 1 patch. I've verified the files multiple times though.

The settler still counts against the origin point IIRC. So if you have 2 trade connections from sanctuary using two settlers from there, your cap and population will not change.
